Lou's Thrifty Way is Norfolk's only full-service grocery store featuring USDA Choice Meat, Fresh Quality Produce, Farm Fresh Dairy, Home Delivery, and Carry-Out Service.

Story

Lou's opened in April of 1972 as an 8,000 square foot retail grocery store owned and operated by the Lou & Phyllis Brtek family. We recently celebrated our 40th year in business.

Through the years, the store has undergone many changes as technology and demographics deemed. Lou's has more than quadrupled in size to it's current size of over 35,000 square feet. The expansions of our selling floor and warehouse space ensure our shelves are full of the items our customers are looking for. The 60-foot flagpole in our parking lot was added to celebrate our 30th year in business and. It is dedicated to all those who serve and/or have served our country and defendedthe freedoms that make the United States of America the great country it is.

However, no matter how much the store changes physically, Lou's is still committed to the old theory: people are what matter most. We are home owned and operated giving us the flexibility to do things larger chain stores cannot. Lou's strives to offer quality products at fair prices while offering exceptional customer servicel We pride ourselves in the fact we are the only store in Norfolk that carries your groceries to your car, and we'll happily deliver to those whom cannot get to the store themselves.
