We are members of The Children's Museum in Indianapolis which is the largest in the country. So I am always skeptical of other children's museums because they usually disappoint our kids. Not the Louisiana Children's Museum! That being said, the word museum is not quite right. It is more of a giant indoor play area.

We spent about 3 hours there with our 4 kids ages 1, 3, 5, & 6. The second floor is a lot of fun and if you are pressed for time I would start there. My only complaint is if you have a crawler....the floors are filthy. We stopped to wipe our youngest's hands and knees all the time.

A great place to take your little one because there is a wide range of play spaces and activities for all ages.  The second floor was fantastic for my toddler who loved cooking, shopping for groceries, and driving boats and streetcars.  Be sure to bring plenty of your own food/snacks -- they only have vending machines and do not offer anything substantial beyond that.

Very affordable and kids could be entertained all day. There doesn't seem to be very good security at the front door for kids walking out on their own or with not the right parent.

A nice children's museum.  There are many areas of discovery for children to experience.  There are some exhibits that represent the local area like, the mini-port and also the area discussing local architecture.   One negative is there is not an onsite restaurant but there is an area to eat to bring your own.
