The Lovington Fire Department was officially established on April 7th, 1931 as a volunteer department. On July 1st, 1972, the City of Lovington Fire Department assumed ambulance responsibilities. In 1985, the fire department made the transition to a full time paid department and absorbed the volunteers as part time employees in 1992. Today, the Lovington Fire Department employs twenty-one full time personnel.
Our fire department is responsible for providing fire protection and emergency medical services care and transport to the citizens of Lovington and Lea County, NM. Our shift personnel are IFSAC certified Firefighter II’s, and we currently have EMT-Paramedics, EMT-Intermediates, and EMT-Basics on staff.. Our personnel are encouraged to continuously train to improve the level of services we can provide to our customers.
It is the goal of the Lovington Fire Department to provide the highest quality service to the citizens we serve. Our department has come a long was since 1931 and is appreciative of the support we receive from the citizens of Lovington and Lea County. After all, without them we would not be the professional and progressive department we have become.
The Lovington Fire Department is dedicated to providing protection and preservation of life, the environment, and property to the citizens and visitors of Lovington and Lea County.
We will achieve this through using the most current technology available, that is within our means, in the fire and emergency medical services field. We will endeavor to make our department progressive, highly trained, and highly motivated; we will maintain and exceed the traditions set by those who came before us.
