Never ever would I think there would be a Filipino restaurant in this location. In the 13 years I've lived in Hackensack, I never even knew there was a store front in this building... thank you, google guides, whoever entered the restaurant details. We ordered: Bangus Belly Milkfish - delicious garlicky tender fish Beef Salpicao - tender beef and flavorful Garlic Rice - garlicky goodness Mango Smoothie - little chunks of mango, and I really like that it's not super sweet. It's more natural Definitely want to try other items on the menu! The atmosphere is strange. There is a grocery store past the 6-7 tables near the entrance. There is a counter/big glass display case by the door, with just a few deserts. The counter you order from is the same as for people checking out their grocery. I would have thought since there were 2 counters, that 1 is for restaurant orders and the other for the groceries. We were there for late lunch early dinner, so there weren't many people, but I would imagine evening rush hour would be chaos. Service was meh, no one smiled at us, not much help with explaining the dishes since we are not Filipino. We got by because we've been to other Filipino restaurants, so we have some idea of what to order. But we will still go back to try other items! We'll just eat and go lol
Glad to see they opened in Hackensack. We had Sisig and salt and pepper wings and turon. Same delicious food like they served in Elmwood Park. Masarap! They also have a grocery section. Great Filipino business. Salamat Mama Fina's!Food: 5/5
bigger location than the one in elmwood park and is still the best sisig in jersey! pusit sisig is still our favorite! they also have a small grocery store within the restaurant which is very convenient. limited seating though! street parking available but there is a metered parking lot behind the store.Food: 5/5
I had a hankering for some Filipino spaghetti, and I happened to have this sisig place bookmarked, so my husband and I headed here for lunch. It was President’s Day at around 1:30. The place is pretty small. There were a few groups dining there at the time with a steady flow of people picking up take-out. First, I will say that my experience with Filipino food is pretty limited. Most of my encounters include a variation of silog, lumpia, halo halo, and one instance of sisig. But obviously, with a restaurant who has ‘sisig’ in its title, you have to get it. We ordered what seemed to be the most popular one, which was the pork sisig. This was amazing. There was so much crispy pork skin in it, and it is served sizzling on a little cast iron pan. It comes with a side of rice, or you can upgrade for some garlic fried rice, which I would highly recommend doing. This is definitely to be shared because it’s pretty heavy. We also ordered the pick two sides plate with chicken adobo and lechon. If you want the lechon, it costs extra, which was pretty pricey because it only came with four pieces. The adobo wasn’t anything special either. The spaghetti was not bad. It satisfied the craving. It did have lots of meat in it but I think I preferred Jollibee spaghetti. And for $11?! I don’t know if I could justify that price for a basic dish with hot dogs and ground meat. We ordered the halo halo for dessert. There was a sign that it’s meant for three people even though there were only two of us. We ordered it anyway and couldn’t finish it. It was just okay. There were a lot of ice chunks. I wish the ice was fine, and that they could do individual or couple halo halo. I have a feeling that they probably have an ice mold to shave ice that’s meant for 3 people, but still! Overall, I really liked the sisig. It’s just everything else that kind of missed the mark. I would definitely come back for more pork sisig and other sisigs and perhaps one of the silogs for brekkie. Tip - they serve everything except the sisig in to-go containers so interpret that as you may.
The new location is much bigger than the prior location in Elmwood Park. Same great service and delicious food. They now accept credit cards as payment and have additional part of the restaurant that sells Filipino products. They also now offer different types of drinks in different flavors of smoothies and slushies. My favorite is the mango smoothie which was so refreshing and just right to my taste buds! Make sure you bring cash to the restaurant since its only cash payments. There is a 711 a few stores down if you need to go to a nearby atm. This place provides by far the best sisig ever. The food there is delicious ! Just be mindful that it takes about 10-15 minutes for your food to be ready and longer if its a full house.
We only usually get the pork sisig. However, this is our first time at the new location in Hackensack and it somehow tastes different. The surly attitude of the people working there are still the same as ever, though.Food: 4/5
The food was amazing, and the prices were affordable. Ordered a spaghetti $11 and a chicken sisig $13 and both were so so good! The portions were generous and could’ve definitely been 2 meals. Next time I’ll have to do it properly and order a garlic rice. However be prepared to pay cash otherwise will be charged 4%. And be ready to wait 15-20 mins for your food.
Excellent Filipino food! I came here with my family and a couple friends on a Saturday at 2pm and was able to get a table without a reservation before it got busy. My whole crew loved their Spaghetti and the adults enjoyed everything else. While they offer other options for sisig simmered protein with soy sauce, vinegar, fish sauce, citrus, and chili, I super recommend the Pork Sisig which comes with rice- SO GOOD!!! Their Bangus Belly and Bistek soy, lemon, and garlic-marinated beefsteak with onions were also very tasty and pair well with rice. Though we were all full, for dessert, we enjoyed their glorious Turon fried banana with jackfruit and brown sugar in a crispy shell - 4 per order. Keep calm and tur-on! NOTES/TIPS: **Very fair prices. While they take credit, cash is queen! They add a 3.99% tax for using credit. **While most entrees came with rice, I suggest ordering at least another side of rice for a group. Staff recommended the perfect amount. **All day breakfast menu. **Street parking with high turnover. A few stores down from Ma's Tea House with excellent boba tea and service. **Wheelchair-accessible.
the sisig is still good... we ordered the usuals... the pork sisig and swuid sisig... ordered hotsilog and tapsilog as well... they were good... taste wise nothing has changed... the service was good too because of tatay elder man... very accommodating... stashed our wet umbrella for us and also gave us paper bags for the groceries we bought... the only knock in this place is the kuya older brother taking the orders and manning the cashier... he gives off a vibe that he doesn't want to be there... that he'd rather be doing something else... maybe he was just tired or something happened but it was different when they were still at the old location where ate older sister was the cashier order taker... she was more customer friendly and bubbly... still appreciate everything though... we will always come back...
Best Sisig in the NJ/NYC area! I've been coming here for years and visited today at there new location in Hackensack. I recommend ordering either the Pork or Bangus sisig. They also have a nice diverse grocerySari Sari store in the back that has everything you would need in a Filipino kitchen. 5/5 stars. Parking: There is paid street parking from Monday to Saturday. Sundays are free street parking.
