We have been wanting to try fufu for awhile. This is a quaint family owned shop, they were very nice and accommodating. We walked into the grocery store side to find a worker but the service was prompt as was the food. Overall, if you are looking to experience more culture through food, then you should go and support this business! The meat is a bit chewy but the flavor is astounding. And the pounded yam was my favorite . When we asked what the best thing on the menu was, the gentleman gave us a grin and confidently stated “everything you see on this menu is good”. Well sir, we agree!
It was my 1st time eating Nigerian food & it won't be my last!!! Mama Zs is SO good! I had Jollof Rice & meat pie. My sister had fufu & chicken stew. My mother had spinach & goat. IT. WAS. AMAZING! You have to try it!
This is a good restaurant only worried about the expiration of drinks and products. This isn’t the first time I am noticing the expired drinks, I was just lucky the couple few times to notice before I drank them. I complained one time about an expired drink I saw at the spot and I wasn’t sure if they took precautions. I am guessing they didn’t because I have another expired drink. This time, I noticed half way after drinking it and if I end up having health Situations would report to the health center. I can’t even return the drink because I live 2+ hours away from Oklahoma, it is pretty sad. Please check your expiration dates so everyone can be safe.
cool spot. i got Primus and Vitalo that’s a classic drink from D.R. Congo and some places in East Africa. can’t go wrong with that
Food was okay, I definitely will be returning to try something different next time. I notice they don't have much on the menu like the other African restaurant but it still interest me to come again. The chicken was a little dry like the other commentors states but overall kind of good. If I have to give any pointers it would to have someone ready to cash out dine in customers. Wasn't much of a problem for us but for others it might be. It would be nice to have some music or TV some type of entertainment background it was really quiet in there w/ little to no one in the restaurant mostly people were in and out and mostly in the kitchen not attending to customers. The grocery store side is okay too but not my cup of tea of food I tried a couple of things from the grocery to support it though. I did notice a hiring sign on door if that helps anyone but there were like 7 people in there which I'm going to guess it must be family or something. Oh yeah, they have bar and a mini karaoke stage. This place wouldn't be bad to rent out or have family/large group gatherings, just a thought.
I went and ordered a to go dish probably 30 mins before closing. I got my food and someone I went with wanted to order something so I placed their order. When we got home to eat mine tasted fine but the order I placed after mine tasted like dish soap! It was so bad that we threw all of the food away.
I like the supermarket but I went to order food from them, the wait was very long. I ordered the Egusi and FuFu and when I got home to eat it, I came to find out the portion was extremely small. It was not filled to the top like the pictures I saw. I think I spent $30 total and wasn't happy. Called back to the place and explained to them that I wasn't happy with the small portion I received, and they basically blew it off and said that is the portion everyone receives. Haven't eaten there since. But the Egusi was delicious
I grew up and spend time in Ghana. I have been looking for an authentic African restaurant for years really decades. Mama Z's is it. I had the Fufu and Goat pepper soup. They said it was spicy they did not dumb it down like many restaurants because I am a white American it was sooo good. The way it is supposed to be. I will definitely be back many more times.
Food ok, need to work on availability of food items and times
It was okay. The service was very slow and the food was cold and old meat. Except alot more for almost $100.00 for 4 people. But what save this place for me was the meat pies now those was tasty.
