Our grand family (22 people) decided on Mammoth Lakes for our annual summer trip (on July 4 week) and one of the request for the kids and teenage crowd was to go horseback riding. I contacted this company to book, as I've used them in the past few years and have always been satisfied. I booked 3 weeks ahead and Jenna was great in helping me book for our group of 20 riders, and suggesting pretty and easy trails for us. On the day of the trip, 2 people chickened out, and we appreciate it that they gave us no problem. So now we had 18 riders (from 9 to 55 years old), and the decision was to go on a 2 hour ride to Heart Lake. The horses there were beautiful, and seemed to be calm and well cared for. The wranglers that helped our group onto the horses were so nice and friendly (I remember only Jill.. but there were others), and we were assigned 3 guides to go with our group. Joe led the pack, the young kids rode in front and the adults behind. I was 3rd from front, behind my two 9 year old kids, and benefited from Joe's great personality and information about the waterfall and creeks that we passed. My 2 curious kids peppered him with questions along the way, and he was patient in answering them. He kept a close eye on my son's saddle which kept leaning on the side, and had to get down a few times to readjust it. I hear from our group behind me that the other 2 guides were surly and kept reprimanding them to control their horse. The ride to Heart Lake was just gorgeous, we passed by streams, valleys, and saw mountains still dotted with snow. We went up pretty high, and the view was spectacular. We were late in coming back, and they sent 2 guides to hurry group back. We all had a wonderful time, however I wished our other 2 guides were as nice and personable as Joe. Having friendly guides adds so much to the experience, and Joe got a nice tip from us. I would totally recommend this company, but I hope you get good guides :)

The "girl" at the ticket booth was super rude. Our group of 6 booked a trail ride with this company three days ahead. We arrived at the time they instructed. We were told that they were sorry but a long ride was not back because of a fire and another group had called just before we did. We requested a 2 hour ride. They offered a one hour three hours later. We asked for a two hour. They said sorry but they had prior two hour rides booked. Everyone else was accommodated but us. The girl even said "well I'm sorry if I ruined your vacation" when we told her we really wanted to ride with their company and we had arranged our vacation schedule to accommodate the times they gave us. She was very rude and condescending. It looked like a nice place with pretty horses. If only the horses were running the show and not the donkey! Very upset with how unprofessional this person handled our situation. At the very least they could have called and informed us of the change! We understand horses and trail riders getting trapped in a fire area. It's the simple fact they were so rude and not willing to make a customer happy!

We booked 3 days in advance and left our information. The day comes and we get to the outfit and they tell us they don't have any horses. Offered for us to come back for half the time we requested. Rude, sarcastic attitude. Didn't help at all. We cleared our calendar for this event! Now we are leaving in a couple days not happy!

These guys and gals (humans and equines alike) totally take care of you. They've got their business down pat, but the passion for their jobs and their rides are always present. Regardless on the package you get, you're guaranteed great views and a personalized experience. We miss our horses already - Hunter, Flicka, and
