Story

Manresa State Beach is a state-protected beach on Monterey Bay near Watsonville in Santa Cruz County, California.It is operated by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The 138acre site was established as a California state park in 1948.Manresa State Beach hosts the junior lifeguard program which runs two sessions each summer, teaching lifesaving, fitness and water safety to children in Santa Cruz County. Many local surfers were once junior lifeguards in the program. South of Manresa State Beach is Sunset State Beach.

Ramp and stairs access to beach. Lifeguard was on duty. No picnic tables or BBQ pits on beach. Picnic tables & bathroom up near parking area. Will go back. Really enjoyed our afternoon there!

Nice beach area although no steps at the very bottom of stairs to beach. You have to jump down a few feet or use some tree stumps precariously located there. Normal state park fee of 10 but worth it. Did not use facilities as they had long lines and did not see outside showers that may be there somewhere. Life guard station right there but beach doesn't seem to get much combing attention. Lots of ocean debris along with human debris left behind.

We went to beach with 2 year old. It is great beach lots of surfers and good time time pass. But there is phenomena happing in this beach about 3000 birds roaming about 200 feet of water. So the water in the beach is bird poop and feathers. It is not recommended to play in the water it is not clean beach. Instead sunset beach is clean

It is a good place to start body boarding or surfing. All family will enjoy the waves! Lifeguards on duty.

If you get there early enough, before 11AM, paid parking shouldn't be a problem. There are nearby neighborhoods that usually have parking as well, but they packed starting around noon, so be mindful of that. Otherwise, a mostly warm beach with your typical multi-culti California crowds. Flies are an issue though, so prepare your mind for that.
