I had a great experience that I had to write about. I was vacationing with my family in Ft. Lauderdale this past summer and was having dinner at Greek islands. Upon leaving the restaurant, we heard a loud screech and then smoke came out of the hood of the car. It was our water pump. Belt had completely torn off. It was night and the kids were cranky we just wanted to go back to our room. So we paid the overnight fee at a local hotel and then took a cab back to the room. The next morning I did a quick search of local shops, knowing I did not have much time to travel a far distance without my car overheating, I limited my search to a mile radius. This left me with several options. After calling a few shops (some were closed) I ran into Sam. He has his shop at the Marathon station on the corner of A1A and Commercial. The shop is called My Shop Auto Repair. Once I told him what I suspected, he knew right away the variation my car has. I have a Mazda MPV, and on this car the water pump is located on the side of the engine and has its own belt so it’s not tied in with the main S belt. (Serpentine) Because of his deep knowledge of cars, he was familiar with this nuance. He mentioned how he has over 25 years’ experience working on both import and domestic cars. I picked up my car from the hotel parking lot and drove it the half mile without the car overheating. He checked out the pump, and showed me before starting any work, that the pump had seized up and needed to be replaced in its entirety. Now, this is the part I was most worried about. Knowing that I was from out of town, and pretty much had no other options, I was scared I was going to get stuck with a monster repair bill. After a few calls, he came back and quoted me a price I was very happy with. Under $200 for the part (which he ordered new from a parts store) and about $100 labor. All in I was under $300 for this repair. I could not be any happier. I dropped off the car at 9:30am and went to the beach for a quick swim. By 11:00am I received a call stating that it was ready to be picked up. This is a shop I can vouch for, every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Sam is a genuine person and treated me very fair and honest. If the need should ever occur, you should have confidence that this shop will perform great service at a decent price.

I live part time in Lauderdale by the Sea, actually half the year. I am from NJ where we have attendants who pump our gas. I have learned over the years how to pump my on. However, in this station when I put the nozzle in it continually shuts off. I have asked for help several times over the years. No one has ever offered to come outside to help me. I went to put air in my tires the other day and found the machine broken as it was last year. I also pushed the help button while I was having trouble buying gas (yes, paying for!!) and no one came out. I went in AGAIN. Two people behind counter and no one looks up at me for minutes! Finally some kid (who I ask for help weeks ago) lifts his head from some paper he has his nose buried in) and I tell him AGAIN the problem. He tells me ...with a GIANT attitude...my tank is full or I am doing it wrong. MY tank is empty I respond and I ask him for help! He says he has customers and doesn't have the time for me. I look around and no one is the store. I do not have trouble putting gas in my car anywhere else...this place was just the most convienent ...How rude and if you need help or air GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I don't knoww ho owns this place but they should should take a look at their staff because they sorely lacking the simple skills it takes to even talk to a customer. 5 thumbs down
