Mission

The Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu is dedicated to preserving the culturally rich heritage of Mardi Gras in Southwest Louisiana with inviting and educational displays through which visitors and residents can experience elements of Mardi Gras and uncover the historical significance of the festival’s varied traditions year round.

Products

Museum is open Tuesday-Friday 1-5 pm and Saturdays by appointment.

The Museum houses one of the largest collections of Mardi Gras costumes and memorabllia ever assembled.
Exhibits include costume construction, origins of Mardi Gras, and how the organized community-wide celebration came into existance.

David was the gentleman who was there today, lots of information to share! We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the costumes are so elaborate and interesting to see, with a few small masks and hats that you can try out. 😊

Great place to visit with lots of history. Curator was very knowledgeable amd friendly. Worth the visit.
