Margot - A Feast for the Eyes, But Not the Palate Nestled in the heart of Culver City, Margot promises a culinary journey through Spanish cuisine in an undeniably enchanting setting. The moment you step into Margot, the ambiance envelops you in a warm, sophisticated embrace. The décor is a stunning blend of modern chic and rustic charm, with soft lighting, elegant furnishings, and a rooftop patio that offers breathtaking views of the city. The atmosphere is truly spectacular and sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. However, while the ambiance at Margot is nothing short of amazing, the same cannot be said for the food. Despite the high expectations set by the restaurant's gorgeous setting, the dishes unfortunately fall short in terms of flavor. The menu, which features a variety of traditional Spanish tapas and entrees, looks promising on paper but leaves much to be desired in taste. Many of the dishes lack the savory depth and vibrant flavors that one would anticipate from a Spanish culinary experience. The biggest letdown, however, is the mismatch between the price and the quality of the food. Margot's pricing is on the higher end, presumably reflecting its upscale ambiance. Yet, when the food arrives, it becomes clear that you are essentially paying a premium for the atmosphere rather than for culinary excellence. The portions are modest, and the flavors are disappointingly bland, making it difficult to justify the cost of the meal. In conclusion, Margot is a place where you can immerse yourself in a beautiful, upscale environment, perfect for a special occasion or a romantic night out. However, if you are seeking a savory and memorable Spanish dining experience, you might find yourself disappointed. Margot shines brightly in terms of ambiance, but when it comes to the food, it falls short, leaving you to ponder if the stunning setting alone is worth the steep price.
I went to Margot's for a dinner my job was sponsoring and it was really nice. From the little shops on the street level to the atmosphere of the actual restaurant. I would describe the design style as maybe organic boho. It was really cute! The bathrooms were really nice too. Unisex though. They reserved the private patio for us and it was nice and secluded. Someone that was at the diner said they were there for a birthday dinner just the weekend before and it was in the main dining room but it was noisy and people kept walking through their party to get to the bathroom. So if you want to go here and want a private, quiet experience then reserve the private patio. If you want to meet other people or don't mind the noise of other people and the kitchen then the main dining room is fine. The food looked and tasted gourmet. I loved the presentation. Kid-friendliness: I would not call this a kid friendly place maybe more during the day. I was there in the evening with adults drinking. Wheelchair accessibility: From the valet parking there is a ramp up to the elevator. So it is nicely wheelchair accessible.
Very beautiful atmosphere! Nice to sit on the patio next to a heater on a cloudy day. Came here for the afternoon menu and the food was amazing. I recommend trying the charred broccoli - it was our favourite dish, we couldn't stop talking about how much we enjoyed it. Drinks were great too. Server was very nice and gave good, honest recommendations. Would definitely return!
Beautiful open air roof top, quite spacious as well. The food on the other hand… Got the lamb meatballs, broccoli, and shrimp pasta. The broccoli dish was perfectly cooked and had that balance of both rich and brightness. The lamb meatballs were bland, and pasta was decent but not memorable. Great place for rooftop drinks, maybe a date or a business dinner. But not a casual place, nor would I come back for the food. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian friendly, but not vegan friendly.
It was an excellent experience while we were in Los Angeles. The staff was very friendly and patience, they even recommended what to order. Everything was delicious and healthy. The place, the bathrooms, the atmosphere is really chic and I would totally come back.Food: 5/5
One of my favorite restaurants. Such a pretty rooftop. Perfect for a date or girls night out. The broccoli dish is massive and filling it’s so good that’s a must try. All the pastas are good. I love this spot in the winter because of the rooftop/heat lamps it couldn’t be more perfect.
Great ambiance and stellar service. Food super solid. See image of receipt for what we ordered. All dishes solid with salad, bombolotti pasta and pork chop very good. Not cheap as dinner for four with a $55 bottle of wine came to $317 with tax and tip.
The food was delicious and overall we enjoyed our meal. I am deducting a star for the drinks that came out inconsistently. The first round were perfect but second rounds did not have the same level of quality in the cocktails. We ordered the same drinks both times and they were so vastly different. Possibly because it was end of the night?! We enjoyed the apps and I had the grilled prawns which were perfect. Overall, would recommend for a great night out with a cool vibe.
my friend and i went on a thursday night. luckily for us, i made reservations. even on a weekday night it was quite lively here. i wonder if it would’ve been slightly less packed had we gone on a random monday or tuesday. we were seated on their rooftop patio, but in the very back near their garden/plants, so it was actually quite secluded and was a great spot for us to talk and catch up. if you wanted to be surrounded by others, the rest of their rooftop patio and indoor dining is quite nice too, but a lot less quiet neither good or bad, just an observation. our server, anthony, was very helpful and friendly, and made sure to make my friend who just moved to la feel welcomed to the usa. anthony made great recommendations, and my friend and i decided to share all of our plates. we both agreed that everything we ate was well-balanced, flavorful, and just the right amount of food. for me, my personal highlights were the yellowtail crudo which tastes so fresh and just melts in your mouth, and the chocolate flourless torte. Parking: there’s a paid parking lot in the building across the street that’s specifically meant for patrons of the platform the shopping and dining area that margot is in, but margot doesn’t validate parking. it was about $10. there is also some street parking available. the lot was surprisingly quite full so i had to circle around a couple times til a car left for me to park my car, so just something to look out for & be mindful of.
Amazing place, great atmosphere the food was amazing. The service was top notch, and I would’ve have given a 5 star but the desert was mid at best for the price. My suggestion would be redo their desert menu option. I got the tres leche tiramisu and the chocolate cake and they were not good. But either than that, the main dishes and the appetizers selection were fantastic! I would definitely come back.
