My daughter went to school here for a few years. I eventually gave up and put her in private school. Teachers are stuck with too many kids per class which involves sharing textbooks as well as the inability to focus on children individually. If your child isn't a trouble maker, they won't get any additional attention.

My Daughter went their she is now 31, but now my granchildren attend Riviere and its awsone very consistent in their lessons and i recommend this school to everybody.

My grandson started attending this school this past fall. His grades have improved, he is learning to play soccer, and just thriving, overall. The faculty and staff coupd not be nocer or more professional. I highly recommend this school.

My son is in Ms. Landreaux's first grade class. The school looked nice and bright and colorful, the principal is outside greeting the students everyday, the office staff is wonderful, I really thought I would be very happy with the school overall. I'm not. Ms. Landreaux is the worst teacher I have ever experienced. Just today my son told me "All the kids were talking and she said 'BeQuiet!' and not everybody was quiet right away and she said 'all of you are insane!' in a mean way." I have attempted to meet with her several times and she refused to give me a time to meet with her until I wrote her a note threatening to get the principal and school board involved if need be. There's no grades at all in her class from what I can tell. In a week I have gotten about 30 pages of classwork back. Not a check-mark, smiley face, "A" or any grade at all, it's like she doesn't even look at it. Homework...we make it a priority to do it. It usually comes back again the next day, unchecked. I asked my son what he did today and he said they watched a movie. I am very unhappy with Ms. Landreaux's class and am already looking for alternative options for my son. Besides the lack of grades and actual teacher involvement, there are some discipline issues going on as well. There is a child in the class who exposes himself to others in the bathroom. I made Ms. Landreaux aware of this and that it is not acceptable. Nothing has been done. The same child punched a girl in the face, slapped a different girl and has all sorts of disruptive and violent behaviors. I questioned Ms. Landreaux about this and her answer was there's no behavior problems in her class. So besides being a really crappy teacher, in my opinion, she's also a liar. I have always been very involved in my son's school. It's always been encouraged for parents to help and participate as much as possible. At Riviere, I feel like Dawn Landreaux would rather I just shut up and not bother her, she's busy counting down the days to summer so she can get away from those "insane" children she's stuck with. My son also mentioned the other day that the assistant teacher, Ms. Kim said she has worked with schools for years and this class is "the worst class I ever had". What a nice thing to say in front of a group of 6 year old children. Unfortunately for Ms. Landreaux, I'm not the type of mom to just allow this kind of garbage. She's going to have to shape up and be a decent teacher and actually Work when she's at work, or I'll do everything I can to have her replaced with a teacher who doesn't call 6 year old's names, allow them to be victims of violence, allow them to witness other children intentionally exposing themselves and not give out any grades, check homework, respond to parents and everything else. If your child is assigned to Ms. Landreaux's class....I feel for you. Mine will be out as soon as possible.
