I love Mar Mar bakery. I ordered a cake for a 60th birthday. It was wonderful. Lemon blueberry cake with cream cheese frosting....wonderful. melt in your mouth. I gave a small package of their cookies to my guests for party favors. They were in love.

This place has great frozen pasties, only bad thing is that they are closed on Wednesday.

My daughter and her fiance worked w/ the Marmar Bakery in E. Tawas, MI for their wedding cake. They did taste testing and were very pleased. They specified what they would like to have for a cake for flavors, decoration and serving size. They were promised that a price would be forthcoming and they made a $50 deposit. Unfortunately, the owner did not return any phone calls (of which there were several) and Meg needed to make an additional drive to E. Tawas (3 hr drive) to speak w/ the woman in person who professed to have sent an email - none was received. The week leading up to the wedding, we stopped at the bakery to get a price and to pay for the cake. The woman at the counter (same person who had been involved) was not able to give a price and said she would email it! I told her that we would be back in an hour and a half for the price. When we returned, she gave an approximate price because she couldn't access her records which were reportedly off site. I paid for the cake by credit card. The cake was to be delivered to the wedding site by 8 am Sat Aug 15, 2009 and it was not there. Thankfully, it was there and set up in time for the reception @ 11 am. To further add to the cake woes, the cake was not what was ordered and had a fairly amateurish decoration on the frosting. The table display tho was very pretty. The ordered cake was 3 layers: top = vanilla w/ strawberry filling, middle = chocolate mint, bottom = marble. Butter cream frosting. Rec'd cake was top = vanilla no filling, middle as ordered, bottom = vanilla. Sugar frosting like a grocery store cake. Subsequent discussions w/ the reception site and the florist yielded similar complaints about this bakery. I would definitely NOT recommend this bakery for a wedding cake. They were difficult to deal with and made for unnecessary stress, and they did not deliver what was ordered. I have spoken w/ the proprietor who said she would refund the cake price to my credit card.
