The Marquette University Medical Clinic, in support of the Catholic, Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, is committed to advancing the overall health and well-being of our students while at the same time supporting their cognitive, emotional, behavioral and social development. Our services are based on the health needs of the population, are prevention-focused and multidisciplinary.
The Marquette University Medical Clinic is committed to quality care and preventive health education for the university community, and providing it in the most accessible, efficient, sensitive, confidential and affordable manner possible.
The Marquette University Medical Clinic offers the following services provided by our staff of physicians/M.D.'s, physician assistants, registered nurses, medical assistants and dietitians. Our services include:
Urgent care: care for illnesses, minor injuries including wounds and lacerations, orthopedic injuries, skin rashes and infections, testing for mono, strep, and UTI's, as well as numerous other services
Women's health care: including Pap smears, STD testing, pregnancy testing, and routine gynecology visits (Please be advised that MUMC does not provide contraception.)
Men's health care: including STD testing and testicular exams
STD evaluation: evaluation, testing and treatment in a confidential setting; including chlamydia, HIV, gonorrhea, and syphilis
New! Chlamydia urine screening
Minor surgical procedures: including suturing, drainage of abscesses, and ingrown toenail removal
Immunizations: including influenza, varicella (chicken pox), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), hepatitis B, meningitis, tetanus, travel vaccines, and lab testing for immunity (as required by clinical sites for health science students)
Physicals: for employment, visas, volunteer work, and health science students
Sports medicine: evaluation, rehab, and x-rays
Chronic disease: monitoring stable chronic health conditions along with referral to area health specialists as needed
Travel clinic: recommendations and immunizations for international travel
Nutritional evaluation: by registered dietitians for a variety of concerns including weight management, low cholesterol diets, eating disorders, and sports nutrition
Eating disorder evaluation: using a team approach with a physician, a mental health provider, and a dietician
Needlestick/blood exposures: evaluation and testing for bloodborne pathogens, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV
Skin care: including care of mild to moderate acne, eczema, and wart treatments
Allergy injections: as prescribed by your allergist, storage of allergy vials
Routine preventive care: blood pressures, cholesterol screening, STD screening
Laboratory tests: as ordered by an MUMC provider or your personal doctor; many tests are done on site with same day results, others are sent out to a reference lab with most results returning in 24-48 hours
Referrals to specialists: if your medical needs require services beyond the scope of what we provide at MUMC, we will refer you to specialists in the Milwaukee area who have the training, facilities, and technology to provide further care
