Marshbank Park features walking trails, a kayak/canoe launch, sledding hill, volleyball courts, baseball fields, play structures, a fishing pier and more.
Marshbank Park was deeded to the Township in 1987 from the Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority. The park saw extensive renovations in 2010 with funding from a MDNR Trust Fund grant and Township capital improvement bonds. It is home to many special events throughout the year including the summer concert series, family camp out night, trick or treat trail and children's concerts.
The renovation of the park included the construction of three buildings:
The Marshbank Lodge, a year-round restroom/shelter building
The Overlook, a seasonal restroom building with an attached screen porch overlooking Cass Lake
The park system's central maintenance facility
Site work included a new entrance, roadways, sidewalks, a paved walking path, two new playground areas with rubber surfacing, landscape plantings and irrigation. Also included was a new field area for baseball, soccer and special events. A new hill was contoured for winter sledding and summer concert seating. An elevated boardwalk along Cass Lake was added with a floating fishing pier and a canoe/kayak launch platform. The entire park is designed to be universally accessible and barrier free.
Overall, the park includes:
Two universally accessible playgrounds
Two ballfields
A soccer field
Multi-purpose field
Two sand volleyball courts
Three shelters/pavilions
Sledding hill
Picnic areas
Restrooms
Fishing pier
Paved paths
Canoe/kayak launch
