Story

On May 9, 1985, the City of Maryland Heights incorporated, and on August 16 of that year, the Maryland Heights Police Department was formed. The entire municipal government, including the Police Department, operated out of a small converted warehouse located at 212 Millwell Drive. To put in perspective, this first facility was about the size of ourAt that time there were just 40 commissioned police officers that came from a variety of small and large area police departments. Five dispatchers and two secretaries made up the non-commissioned personnel.

The officers' first assignment was to paint the interior of the warehouse and construct the first jail, which consisted of four wooden walls and a chair. Then, on August 17, the officers hit the streets in ten used police vehicles purchased from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The vehicles sported the "gum drop" type police light bars (think Mayberry).

Thirty plus years later we have over doubled in size with 79 commissioned police officers, 12 commissioned reserve officers and 17 non-commissioned employees.

In October of 2008, city staff, including the Police Department, moved out of the old warehouse and into our new modern Government Center located at 11911 Dorsett Road (just down the street from the old station).

In 2009, the Maryland Heights Police Department became only the second agency in the State of Missouri to receive certification under the Missouri Police Chief's Certification Program. In 2016, the Maryland Heights Police Department received international accreditation through the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

The men and women of the Maryland Heights Police Department take pride in their history and look forward to the challenges of the future.

Worst law enforcement agency in the country. These officers are the reason that people don’t have faith for the honorable officers who protect and serve across the country. They bully the public, say things to the public that are against the law, and they even had one who threatened to shoot an injured deer in front of two little girls. I will give them some credit though. They are great fiction writers. A poor example for the great police across this area and the rest of the country. Have some self respect and show others the same! Semper Fi.

Lack of character, lack of humility, lack of honesty, and a lack of respect for they public serve. They don't realize they are public servants and are sworn to uphold the constitution and protect and serve. This department definitely needs to be checked on by outside agencies. All too easy for statements that lack truth to come out of there mouths. They definitely need to reconnect with the people of Maryland Heights and then stay out of their lives.

I called the police department because the Maryland heights court house is closed as of this moment. I tried to get information on court tonight because I have court at 6pm, but the Missouri Department of transportation has claimed everyone be off the road by 6pm. I do not want to drive an hour and a half to come to court for it to be closed and risk driving back home. The lady I spoke with on the phone from the Maryland Heights Police Department was the absolute most rude and ignorant person I have EVER spoke with and she then proceeded to hang up on me while I was still speaking. I DO NOT WANT TO BE IN MORE TROUBLE FOR FOR NOT SHOWING UP TO COURT FOR RISKING MY LIFE!

Filed a complaint 3+ months ago and still haven’t heard back from no one about a follow up. I was told 30 days. I know this isn’t the only complaint that was ignored and I am not surprised. People of Missouri save yourself the disappointment of moving to this area.

Overall I love the police in Maryland heights. In a personal personal experience I would have not wanted to have (I messed up), the cop was very kind and professional. I like the cops but I disagree with some laws made by politicians.
