I went into Matson with a flat tire on my lunch break. This was my first visit with them and I am impressed, not only were they fast but they didn’t even charge me for it. I remind you this was my first time there so the tires were bought at a different place and they still got me right in and at no charge. I had a flat tire before this and took it to the place I purchased the tire from which states “free flat repairs” but they still charged me labor fees of $15. Martin was faster, more friendly and obviously better priced. I am definitely going to try them for my other car needs such as oil changes, etc. just because of how quick and friendly they treated me.

This is where I take my car. Chrsi Matson really knows cars - it is like a foreign language to me but he patiently explains things. I recommend them for your car and tire needs.

Bought 4 new tires for my Subaru at Matson Auto, and it was easily the best tire purchasing experience I've had in my life. I'm from NYC and didn't learn much about cars as a kid. As you can imagine, I've been taken to town by both discount tire and Big-O so you can imagine the relief in having a locally owned shop like Matson to help me understand the difference between quality and price in order to make the most informed decision! Will be going here for new tires from here on out, and would highly recommend them to anyone in the Greater SLC Area!

Pros: Quick service Cheap oil changes Cons: Pricing - It's not really clear what they are charging you for. On the receipt they charged me over $450 dollars for an alternator. On the expensive side I could buy an alternator for $150. It should have only cost about $100 dollars for the part. Clearly this must also add the price of labor. But than they have another column for labor where they charged me over $150 dollars again. Meaning I paid over $600 dollars for an alternator as they told me they didn't charge me labor to replace some other parts. I'm baffled at there pricing schema, and how much I actually paid for what. What they do on paper doesn't match there words. They did call me after they saw this review. I didn't really want to talk at the time... So it didn't go anywhere. But I'm sick of people trying to overcharge people. Just because they can get away with it. I will not be using them again. But heck maybe they will get better, and become more honest in there pricing. I mean they are not as bad as action plumbing who tried to charge me $3,000 for a $500 water heater. That took me a noob to plumbing... 2 hours to replace on my own. And I am sure I could have done the alternator myself as well. But I was trying to save myself some time. And my wife needed the car the next day. So what are you going to do? To be honest I think I will stop getting help from these places, and buy a back up car. So when things break down I can fix things on my time. Even though I am not really a mechanic. As I am just sick of getting ripped off by everyone now days.
