We were the only people there to catch the train. Grateful for a warm place to wait with a bathroom since our train was over an hour late. There is no staff here in the evening or morning to get on or off the CONO train. Parking was free and I felt safe leaving my car here. Glad we picked this station over Effingham, especially when our train was over an hour late.

Relatively old station that’s right by downtown Mattoon. The station has a waiting area, ticket counters, vending machine, and an elevator. The station in whole was pretty clean. Parking is available by the station as well. For train service, the Illini and Saluki Services stop there normally, while the City of New Orleans route makes flag stops. The Illini and Saluki tend to be delayed, so be prepared to wait some extra time!

Refurbished to the grandeur of it's original Era, even kept the old ticket booth! Has large seating area with the original wood like you'd find in the Grand Hall of Union Station in Chicago. They added clean modernized restrooms and an elevator. Would rate 5 stars if the elevator were not slow as molasses or if there were 2 to handle the amount of people. Otherwise it's perfect for Mattoon "Little Chicago".

We have had pleasant experiences traveling to Chicago , including connecting to the light rails to O'Hare, and midway airports. This way you don't have to pay for parking at the airports. Frequency is not as often as would be convenient, but when it works, it works well.
