The McKownville Fire Department is in the Town of Guilderland, New York. Our nickname is "The Pride of The East Side".
We are a 100% Volunteer Fire Department that averages 300 fire calls per year. Our department operates 4 in-service fire apparatus consisting of Engine 57, Engine 55 and Squad 53 and our reserve antique parade piece, Engine 56. Our general response area is from the Adirondack Northway east to SUNY Albany and south to the Bethlehem Town Line. Our response area includes the dormatories at the Indian Quadrangle of SUNY Albany as well as several other buildings on campus. In the past, we provided fire service coverage at the New York Giants training camp. Other areas in our district include Stuyvesant Plaza, 1450 Western Avenue and part of the Northway (I-87).
The prevention and protection of life and property from and during such fires as may occur within the limits of the McKownville Fire District, and act upon the requests of Fire Departments to assist them in the performance of their duties.
