Best place in the area for gourmet groceries. Similar to Whole Foods, they have an excellent hot food bar. Their fries and wings are delicious and I usually buy myself a sandwich during lunchtime. My son likes the pizza. One of the highlights is the cheese selection- they have many hard to find cheeses and the cheesemonger gives excellent recommendations. Next to the cheese section is the wall of lox. I have been trying all of the different types of lox. The fish is great too- I can never find halibut at the other local grocery stores. The prices are higher than the other grocery stores in the area, but the service is better. One time, a cashier went and got a cheese for me when I couldn't find it. Basically, if I can't find it here, I have to buy it online.

I want to like Mcaffreys, I really do. It's clean, aesthetically pleasing, and their prepared food section seems to be on point. Overall it's a little expensive, but I get that quality food stores often are. 

Today I got some chicken dumplings, and after eating one and starting on my second, I noticed that the chicken was significantly undercooked, as in still noticably pink and rubbery. Not wanting anyone to get sick, I drove back to the store to return the dumplings and inform management. Now, in my former experience in the food industry, I always learned to take undercooked chicken, and in general, improperly prepared food seriously, and to go into overdrive on customer service regarding this. No such treatment. I was polite with the manager, but let him know I took this kind of thing seriously and was a little worried about getting sick. I got my money back, but no apology, or even an appearance of concern. At my urging he got someone to remove the existing dumplings. Sorry guys, I wanted to like you but I'm moving on.

Despite that, two stars, because otherwise my experience there has been pretty positive

This is by far the best supermarket in the area. There isn't even a close second. Their produce is always the freshest, the butcher department is amazing, and the Deli product is as good as it gets in a supermarket. Well run, always clean, very courteous people working there. Price is very fair for the high quality.
