Overall very good. Pretty well stocked. Pleasant store to browse around. Reasonable prices (for North America, anyway). Nice and mostly knowledgeable staff. Only con: can take a while to get help when you need it.

One of my favourite MEC locations. They have the most popular items in stock with classes and workshops held in a classroom on location. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

A bunch of very wholesome, friendly, and expertly knowledgeable people, who all happen to work at the same store!  The best place for outdoorsy and like minded individuals.  Great prices, always very good quality, and always setting the customer service bar very high!

I attempted to rent a hardtop Paddleboard from MEC in North Vancouver. I was denied as my FCS surfboard rack was not considered sufficient for carrying boards, despite having travelled 1000's of miles with 5 surfboards strapped to my roof.  HOWEVER, the Vancouver store had no problem renting me a hardtop board and even offered to provide me with a soft rack in case I didn't have one. I find it strange that MEC uses a centralized rental system via phone even though each store has separate policies. Otherwise I have not had any problems with the North Van store. I will stick with the Vancouver store from now on.
