Mecates is your typical conservative Mexican food joint and one of the only two choices in Huntington.  I haven't had anything bad there, and at the same time nothing has stood out as fantastic or authentic.  The portions are filling, and there is enough variety to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. Love the southwest spinach salad. Good chips and salsa too. I have never had a bad meal here.

Food was warm and lacked freshness... My tamole tasted like it was a day old. Everything was dry even the ground beef.

Prices weren't too bad, good service, cheap margaritas, comfortable atmosphere, I will go back.
