My friend and I came to The Russian Tea room for high tea one weekend. First off, the decor and interior of the place already had me somewhat swooning upon arrival. What can I say--I'm a sucker for elegant and regal tea rooms. Everything was consistently satisfactory, but I wasn't blown away by any of the food. A couple of the sandwiches stood out more than others and I did enjoy the blinis. I am a mega-consumer of desserts, and I wasn't impressed with The Russian Tea Room's assortments. I was a bit underwhelmed by the scones and cupcakes. Service was also satisfactory; I don't really have any complaints. I believe our server was new because he was struggling over memorizing the details of every single sandwich and whatnot. But it wasn't a problem because he was incredibly nice and his struggles were kind of endearing. I will probably visit The Russian Tea Room again in the near future even though I'm hesitant to say that their high tea is worth the rather hefty price tag.
