Melissa's Bakery is a boutique bakery located in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was founded in 2003 when Melissa made her first wedding cake for her parent's 40th wedding anniversary. Since that first cake she has not stopped. Making beautifully flawless cakes is her passion. Melissa's Bakery is where beautiful truly tastes delicious!

I went in today to get prices for a groom's cake. The sweet girl at the counter sent the owner a picture of what I was looking for so she could price it. The owner said since she wasn't doing my wedding cake, that she wouldn't do the groom's cake. I've never heard of a bakery turning down business. I should've read the reviews before I even stepped foot in the place!

Disappointment! To follow up on the review my husband posted 6 month ago about our wedding cake experience with Melissa's Bakery:
We had been holding on to this Melissa's gift card ever since it was issued to us because we did not want to give her our business. It was the principle of the matter, you know. When I finally decided to go spend this large sum of money to ship a few king cakes to some lovely ladies on the west coast, SURPRISE, the gift card would not work. Melissa had me get on the store phone so that she could sarcastically explain that she had "revoked our money on the gift card because my husband wrote a bad review about her store on Google, so we got our refund, honey." I told her that was against the law, and that you cannot take people's money because you do not like what their opinion of your service is. She replied, "Well, you just get your lawyer to meet mine at the courthouse then." I had to hang up on her out of disgust, and trying to keep my cool. I asked for my gift card back from the nice guy behind the counter and left the store.
 
I for one value honesty, hard work, kindness, and respect. Although they may work hard, I give them that, I certainly did not find any honesty,  kindness, or respect for customers in this bakery. I take responsibility for ever putting the deposit down without being satisfied, my bad, but we were trying to support a local business we had heard so many good things about in the news paper and from friends. For the record, I stand behind every word my husband said in his review because it was the truth.

I was thinking about getting my 21st birthday cake done by this bakery so I decided to go and try some cupcakes. I bought a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing. The cupcake was beautiful, it even had edible glitter on top but boy oh boy was that cupcake bland.. It had ZERO flavor. I only ate about a quarter of it and threw the rest away. The icing was flavorless and the cake was dry. How can cream cheese taste like air? Needless to say I will be searching elsewhere for my birthday cake.

The cupcakes are always good! Just had a birthday cake made. There is also cookies, mini pies, gluten free goodies, and coffee!
