Story

Mendocino Coast District Hospital, Home Care and Laboratory All Accredited by The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation is an important way of demonstrating that Mendocino Coast District Hospital, its home health program and laboratory all follow the same quality standards that large healthcare organizations follow.

MCDH has been accredited since 1973. We identified the need to meet the quality standards designated by The Joint Commission in the early years, and have maintained that accreditation to this day. To earn and maintain accreditation by TJC, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team every three years.

About The Joint Commission
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization; they accredit and certify nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.

TJC Mission: To continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.

TJC Vision Statement: All people always experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care across all settings.

I went in to the ER for some help with some serious poison oak I have. Fast forward I'm sitting in a gown waiting the front desk nurse had me sign stuff, mid doing that I asked how much and she said it would be $600 for a ER visit. I told her I can't do that and I will just manage with the poison oak. I have poison oak covering my face, stomach, entire left arm, right forearm, entire lower legs, hips, lower back, groin, and neck. The nurse said "Oh come on! You live out of your car and have a job, it's just $600". I can't find a place to live in the town here so I just live out of my car till I can find a job in a city where I can afford it. Just trying to pay off debt. Never going to a hospital again, just a bunch of scandals. I'm a 25 year old male and veteran.

Saw an acupuncturist in this facility for sciatica, if I had the money I'd go all the time to see him. The complex looks good and is pretty nicely laid out, plenty of parking as well.

The emergency room is well organized, the staff, from the moment we arrived was sympathetic and very professional. The wait was minimal, the nurses and doctors were sympathetic and treated us beautifully. An emergency is never fun. The treatment we received at the hands of the Mendocino personnel made it very bearable.
