I love this market. The prices are significantly low especially considering this area where everything is always over prices but more importantly the food is delicious. I visit their fresh food section at least 3 times a month. The Birria and Burritos are my favorite. Their chicken tacos are also very good. Not to mention their salsa Verde is scrumptious. I never wait long to be tended to and the service is good. The men work fast pace and cook the food fresh hourly (or less). My family is from Guadalajara Mexico and I can assure you the food at this market are legit. I'm shocked that they have so many bad reviews but I suppose I shouldn't be surprised since the majority of the people who live or even visit this area act as if the world owes them a favor. This is obviously not a 5 star restaurant HOWEVER the food is authentic and not expensive. Be polite like you should be everywhere and you will receive good service with your meal.

I feel bad having to write this review because I don't like to be negative but I want to warn people about Guadalajara's meat department.  Today I went in to get some peppers and garlic (and should have left it at that) but unwisely chose to ask if they had Korean Style (thin cut) short ribs.  The young man behind the counter told me that yes they did and I said may I please see an example of one.  He cut a rib and showed it to me and I told him that it needed to be trimmed more and thicker - I wanted 8 lbs for a party.  He nodded his head and said no problem.  The price was about $2 less a lb which seemed like a great deal so I was happy at this point.  After the butcher was done cutting I could not see what the meat looked like cause it was all thrown in a big plastic bag and tied up which would have been fine if the meat had been cut properly.  Once I got home and looked at the ribs they were a total mess.  Some were paper thin and almost all fat and bone while others were thicker although uneven.  One was literally an 1 1/2 inches at one end and paper thin at the other.  Although I didn't want to return them, I was not going to be able to bbq them and would waste almost $40 so I called and spoke to the manager.  He said he'd have to look at them and see what was wrong.  I immediately went back to the store to show him the ribs.  Without even looking at them, the manager told me that I was "way too picky" and he'd "return my money as long as I never came back in the store again".  He reiterated this several times, essentially scolding me while refunding my money. I told him I definitely did not plan on returning so that was fine with me.  He never offered to replace the ribs with ones cut properly.  I even brought in samples from some I'd bought at another store to show him.  That seemed to infuriate him even more.  He told me he needed my receipt and I said if its not in the bag then I didn't get it.  He said well he can't give me the money if I don't have the receipt (even though the tag on the meat was clearly from them and I'd just left the store), so I said that young lady right there just sold it to me.  She told him that I'd left before she could give me the receipt and she had thrown it away.  Well she actually had started checking out another customer so I didn't realize she still needed to give me a receipt, my bad, but I didn't plan on returning anything.  The manager rudely says " oh I believe that, that seems like something you'd do"??? What the heck? All I could do was laugh and walk out.  No worries buddy I WON'T BE BACK TO WASTE MY MONEY AT YOUR STORE!!  I wouldn't feed that meat to my dog.  ***BEWARE: They sell the meat cheaper because you end up with the parts other stores throw away! ***
