I came here after work to celebrate a colleague's birthday. Although I'm not a smoker, I did enjoy Merchant Cigar Bar's elaborate cocktail menu! If you enjoy a well made drink, I highly recommend this place. In addition, the ambiance is fantastic and it's an overall beautiful bar. Finally, the service was great and the folks here were super friendly. Pro-tip: Do you enjoy an old fashioned? I recommend their "Corleone's Choice". It's Merchants' take on the classic cocktail.
7/26/24 9:30pm Party of 5 After reviewing and looking at photos of numerous establishments, I selected this restaurant/ lounge as the perfect location to gather my guys to formally ask them to be Groomsmen for my wedding. I’ve recently been visiting various cigar lounges so when I shared with other gentlemen this venue, there was much anticipation. I’m typically excited to write reviews but this one, I’m highly disappointed with. Things were off from the moment we walked in. We were a party of five, I wasn’t asked if I had a reservation until after the hostess pointed in the direction where we would sit. As we approached the table, the hostess, who was behind us, realized the table was not ready. He walked in front of us, announced that he needed to clean the table before we sat down, and proceeded to clean it in front of us, as we stood there waiting and watching. Once seated, we waited about a half hour before anyone came to our table to serve us. Eventually, someone showed up and took our drink order. We ordered a bottle of wine and wine glasses were filthy, a mix of water stain and dust on the glasses. The waiter removed the dirty glasses after noticing their condition. We waited an additional half hour for him to return with clean glasses, leaving the bottle of wine open, on the table uncovered as he left with cork, with no glasses. When it came time to ordering our food, we gave our order to the waiter. 20 minutes later another guy shows up and introduces himself as our waiter. He then tells us, he’s our actual waiter, but the other guy was assisting him as he was busy eating. He follows up by repeating the order we gave to the first guy who we thought was our waiter. He said he wanted to ensure everything was accurate before he put it in… 20 minutes after we gave our order the first time. I was at this point completely embarrassed by the experience and had to immediately apologize to my group. Once our food finally arrived, everything looked great except for one of the ribeye steaks which was practically 75% fat. We couldn’t believe they would even serve a steak like that. At that point, we requested the manager. I don’t recall her name but she was super helpful and accommodating and the first and only professional staff member we encountered that night. Before even speaking to us, she noticed the steak and immediately apologized. She quickly resolved the issue. The meal otherwise, was impeccable. This venue has immense potential. The ambiance, food and drinks are all slated to provide a classic New York cigar lounge premier experience. It is so unfortunate that the staff do not maintain and enforce the level of quality customer service, a place like this should have. I literally witnessed a couple walk in, very well dressed, take a look around, stand there for a few minutes unacknowledged by any staff, and walk out. I hope the manager has enough authority to make the necessary changes that need to be made to ensure this establishment has right reputation.

This place is a dive cigar bar. The furniture feels like it could collapse at any time. The place was warm when cool would have been appropriate. It appeared to be cooled by a floor AC unit that is under equipped for the room size. The service was horrible. Our server was too busy stocking and doing inventory with her back to the patrons. We had to go to the bar to close out after flagging her down every other time we needed service.

Jared is wonderful. This cigar bar feels intimate & is completely unlike the other one or two clubs/restaurants/bars attached to it. In here, you have low, leather seating and seats at the bar. Everything is fine and soothing. You can smoke and there is also a selection. Staff are not pretentious. You can have a wonderful experience and enjoy New York without any feeling of hustle or extreme. I love it. I saw someone even relaxing in there alone. I think it is a perfect place to go with a dear friend to relax and talk about things or reflect. This is my favorite place so far in the city. It is not a place to mingle. It also does not smell badly. Wonderful, chill and quiet little place.
The bartender her is amazing! He custom creates cocktails based on what flavors, ingredients, and taste you prefer. You can smoke cigars and enjoy the classic Cocktails or speak to the bartender with a brief description of what you like and he will create a custom drink. You can also enjoy sporting events on their TV they have lounge style seating very comfortable and a nice food menu.
Dark and Cozy spot had a nice cocktail I forgot the name. We did some shots and Dee recommended food since we were pre gaming for a bachelor party. They carry Davidoffs, My Father, Padron, and Camacho. Bartenders are baddies and service was great too. Dee and Andrea always take the best care of us. The vibes were immaculate. Beautiful people. Beautiful spot and decent whiskey & cigar selection. The steak and chicken lollipops were great recommendations. I may come back just for that. Kid-friendliness: 21 and up ONLY
One of the few remaining cigar places in the city. They have a decent collection of cigars and premium liquors. Service is attentive and timely. The ventilation is decent given the place is below street level. They have Russian Caviar on the menu served with crackers and condiments. The atmosphere is old school lounge style. Food menu is also decent.
