I got referred to use meridian bank for a relatively small commercial loan and Paul Avery the business banker was  the one taking care of it he came as highly recommended by the broker. But our experience was not that great with him. Unfortunately our deal did not go through and i asked for our good faith deposit to be returned they deducted close to 800 dollars from our deposit. No closing date was scheduled and they Nickled and  dimed  us for everything .when i asked him about it he sent me email with this response via email.  “please see attached signed term sheet and signed commitment letter.  In many instances, we have to spend money in order to underwrite and approve a loan for searches, reports, etc.  Should the Bank simply eat those costs in instances where the parties decide to not consummate a transaction?  I don’t think that’s a reasonable opinion and I doubt you would run your business in that fashion.  We collect these deposits for a reason and that is to protect ourselves in instances where a transaction falls apart like this. “  He is comparing a multi billion dollar company to a small business that has not even started the business yet this how much they care about a small business , these banks are all about making profit. Tom, Amy, and Joe made the process of buying my second home easy and stress free. I am pregnant and have a lot on my plate already. They walked me through each process, ensured I was updated on any changes if there were any and educated me on things I did not know the first time I bought a house.
