HAD A GREAT TIME THERE! Its small, but that is a good thing! Not over-run by tourists! The camp host is just a delight, and tells a good story of the region along with a glass of wine or two. Beautiful park, well worth the drive. You want seclusion? this is the place! also saw some old vehicle right off one of the trails.... leftover from the Mt.St Helens eruption?

The campground at Merrill Lake is great place to camp; it's right off of the lake, and a stone's throw from the ape caves.

Pretty small place, not sure if I would camp here necessarily. It is very nice and well maintained. We did the short loop trail which was a very nice trail, a little up-hill and down-hill but nothing major.
