Story

Wes and Robin Maynard started in the Restaurant business in 1988 in the small western town of Breckinridge, TX. After 4 years operating in Breckenridge they sold their shares of the business so they could move back home to Weatherford and open a place of their own. The plan was simple- offer great food and friendly service at reasonable prices, and do right by your employees and the community, and success will come to you. The doors to the Mesquite Pit opened in April of 1993 and we try to reach those goals everyday. In 2000, our success allowed us to expand from a small place next to a grocery store to a Restaurant the size it is today. In 2004 we had a run of bad luck due to someone turning the horseshoe that hangs over our front door. This caused a high wind to pick up and feed a smoldering stud in the kitchen wall which started a fire that consumed half the building. A huge outpouring of help and support from the local community, employees, friends, and family (along with a lot of hard work and a little luck) allowed us to open back up better than ever, and we’ve been goin’ strong ever since! So please, sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy a great meal with our family, and let us know if you need anything. Because after all, The Mesquite Pit, first and foremost, belongs to you!
