Second Saturday in a row I can't sleep. Our neighbors started playing football in the parking lot, making lots of noise outside our bedroom window in the process. I watched their off-line passes hit at least three surrounding vehicles. I called the Mesquite police department, but as soon as the officer drove off, they started playing again. When I called back, the guy on the other end said they won't get involved unless there is "deliberate destruction of property." Apparently throwing a football at parked cars isn't deliberate enough for them. THEN, the guy tells me I should just go out and talk to them about it. Since when does a responsible police department advice concerned citizens to approach a rowdy group of hooligans at 11:00PM? I pointed out that their officer would find it much easier to end a football game than to deal with a fight after I confront my drunk neighbor. The dispatcher's advice? Sue them. That, my friends, is my tax dollars at work.

Vehicle was stolen from the shopping center behind Applebee's the beginning of December. Have NOT heard back from the auto theft detective once and I've left 3-4 voice messages. Sorry a** excuse for customer service and for service PERIOD. I have absolutely no trust in this department/system....unless it's to harm innocent people. The female dummy in charge of providing police reports need to get a grip on life. And what is it going to take for you all to learn how to reduce/control/monitor the large amounts of car theft??? Probably an inside job to say the least. Someone is turning a cheek... Smh throw the WHOLE department away and START OVER! Cowards...

My husband's work van was stolen this morning. From the time I called the Mesquite Police, it was a matter of minutes and they had the criminals! They even came over to give my husband a ride to get the van! You have always been there for us and I'm sure many others. Thank all of you for all you do. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

My axle broke on me this past Saturday at 10pm at night after going over a pothole. I did not see the pothole , and it was pouring down raining so I couldn't leave a note. My car wasn't drivable, and I did my best to get all the way off the road to not interfere with the flow of traffic which it wasn't. The next morning ,I had my sister check on the car and it was still there. That evening when I was going to attend to take care of the problem it was gone. In the first thing I did was call Mesquite PD and they end up sending it to the impound. Remind you it wasn't even there for 24 hours. The Watch Commander told me to go to a hearing to get my refund back after paying to get it out the tow yard. And I wasn't surprised, there's some decent cops in that department but ,not many. The rest seem they can do whatever they want and go outside their training but what's new. I haven't had any relevant run ins with any type of laws enforcers but some of these offices will profile and ,they will create a situation ,and they have a lack of respect for some of the people in the community and this is the wrong time to act that way. Not fair to the men or women who do not, let their uniform wear them.

While I was a private security officer assigned to some apartments on Samuel Boulevard for 2 years, the Mesquite police helped out in ways in which no other department has done before. One officer who stuck out in particular was Officer Griner (badge #1104). Every time he saw me, he would stop and ask if everything was alright and if he could assist in any way. Two other officers who assisted me frequently were Officer Franklin and Officer Gafford. They did incredible work.
