Pros -Gym -Package Concierge -Indoor-common spaces Cons -The outdoor common spaces have unremarkable views and can be loud because of the T. We live in Boston, where it’s typically only warm enough to use the roof deck 4-5 months of the year. This year they actually closed the roof deck on November 1st. It’s not worth the extra money. -Cannot drink beer or wine in some common spaces. Security informed us to put our bottle of wine away when we had friends over. We were outside. -Dog feces outside, and urine-scented elevator carpets -The upper-level management is very rude. -By the time you exit the complex, cross the intersection, walk through the station, it would take us about 10-12 minutes to get to the train While the complex is beautiful, we quickly learned aesthetics aren’t enough to satisfy tenants. Our biggest complaints were infrastructure and senior-level management. MetroMark is located right next to Forest Hills. We lived on the third-floor facing Washington Street, and were constantly disrupted by noise. While living there we would hear everything from people casually talking outside, to tractor trailers and buses in the morning (at 4:30am). The noise wasn’t limited to just outside activity: we heard every step our upstairs neighbors took, as well as every time they were intimate. We were also frequently disrupted by false fire alarms of people “cooking” during the wee hours of the morning. Because the noise affected our ability to sleep, it became a nuisance. Given that the complex is both new and “luxury” the management company should have taken appropriate steps to ensure that noise wouldn’t be that much of an issue. When voicing my concerns to MetroMark, the head of maintenance flat out told me that he didn’t believe me when I said I could hear conversations outside. The property manager, Kelli, ensured us that they consulted a sound engineer when building the complex and the windows were installed with “some grading for sound proofing”. She also stated I was the only person to have complained about noise. All claims the property manager made were untrue. First of all, sound engineers don’t consult for soundproofing of buildings (they deal with music acoustics). Second, they gave us the spec of the windows (STC rating 38)....which are normal windows that provide no real sound barrier. Learning that they did the absolute minimum made it clear why we couldn’t sleep. I spoke with the Vice-President of the management company to voice my concerns and didn’t know I was in a deposition. She stated my expectation (to be able to sleep in an apartment that I pay $2400/month for) was unreasonable and, that because this was my first apartment, I didn’t know better. My grandmother lives down the street from MetroMark, and you can’t hear the trains or buses from her condo. So it’s possible. The Vice-President, Nancy, also claimed that no apartment complexes like MetroMark, “even the ones in Seaport”, would provide any reasonable sound proofing for their windows. The upper-level management’s response was so rude, we decided to terminate our contract early. A few months into living at MetroMark, my key stopped working. I was cooking food, and so it was imperative that the issue be addressed immediately. One of the staff members, Razi, told me that, because she was attending to prospective renters, I had to wait 15 minutes before she'd call maintenance. I asked her to provide the number to me so that I can call maintenance myself to expedite the process. She not only refused to do so, but she raised her voice at me in front of prospective tenants and my friend. When speaking to her boss, Jamie, he told me he didn’t believe me because I was the first person to complain. I believed our experience to be an isolated event; however, upon moving, other tenants of color explained to us that they had similar concerns about both noise, and staff professionalism. The phrase “not all that glitters is gold” became very apparent after moving to MetroMark.

I lived here since August 2016. It is my 1st home in Boston and I am extremely satisfied with my time here. Location is very convenient 2 mins walking to forest hill station with the orange T line which is pretty much the most reliable line in town. The building is brand new and the best caring staff you could wish for. I lived here for the past 5 months without a single complain and will definitely recommend the place for friends and family.
