Story

Since 1980, the Metroplex team has been dedicated to providing reliable, quality electrical service to all types of businesses and residences. We hold ourselves to extremely high standards in every phase of our organization to assure that each customer is satisfied.

On December 4th, 1980 Metroplex Electric was incorporated in the State of Oklahoma as an electrical service company. It was started by Mr. Al Johnson and family and grew into a company specializing in electric service and projects with a customer base of approximately 2500 residential and commercial accounts. The Main office was in Oklahoma City at 6420 N. Broadway Ext and satellite offices in South Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The company operated 15 service vehicles in OKC and 5 in Tulsa with 25-30 employees and delivered electrical, data and lighting services 24/7 in both cities.

In 1994 McBride Electric of Kansas expressed an interest in purchasing the Metroplex Electric operation. McBride Electric had grown from a Wichita, KS based company to a national service company with 16 branches and corporate offices in San Diego, CA.

Metroplex Electric was eventually purchased by McBride Electric in 1995. Al Johnson and the management staff were retained and the company name was changed to McBride Electric. The satellite offices in South Oklahoma City and Tulsa, staff and personnel, were brought back to main office in Oklahoma City, while still maintaining the commercial customers at both locations.

On January 14th, 2007 McBride Electric nationally was purchased by a private equity investment firm out of Atlanta, GA. The company continued to operate as McBride Electric until March 26th, 2010 when McBride ceased operations nationwide.

At that time the Oklahoma Branch of McBride Electric was re-formed into Metroplex Electric and incorporated by the State as a Limited Liability Company April 7th, 2010. James Carson was the General Manager for McBride and had been an employee there since 1994. He partnered with Al Johnson and Vince Aiello, who was the Service Manager and employed there since 1988. These three had a simple objective; “continue to offer electric and data services throughout Oklahoma”. This gamble turned out to be a very successful move.

Since that purchase in March 2010 Metroplex Electric has been and will continue “to provide a positive customer experience with quality work and reliability every time“.
