I realize there's a perception that "surgeons surge," i.e., if you take a pet to a surgeon, he or she will immediately recommend surgery. But in my experience with Metropolitan, that couldn't be further from the truth. What has particularly impressed me about Dr. Niles is that she's a great diagnostician and will examine and explain all options, (and she's a very skilled communicator). I trust her completely. Period. Can you say that about your vet? Add to that the fact that the entire practice is exceedingly well run, professional and organized. If you're considering surgery for your pet, get to Metropolitan. Once you have a consult there, you will have the peace of mind knowing you made the best decision for your beloved pet.

Been here several times, always top quality care. All staff are very professional, nice and even when busy, provide best care to my dogs. Highly recommended especially for emergency in the night or weekend. The building is very nice and always clean. Also, close to several highways and in a convenient location.

We were suggested to go to metropolitan vet after one of our dogs had blood work done at our regular vet. I was petrified because I didn’t really know what was going on or what we could do but the doctors at metropolitan vet were super sweet, they explained the blood work results and the possible causes (and what they believed the issue was). Since he hadn’t eaten in a few days they decided to keep him overnight to get him on an IV and get some fluid in his system. Later that evening they called and gave us an update on how he was doing and the next morning we got a call from the radiologist with results from the ultrasound. Unfortunately he had really aggressive, advanced cancer and we found it too late so we had to put him down but they made sure to keep our emotions in mind, they explained everything as best they could, have us time, gave us every option we had and gave us their suggestions when I asked for them. They took such great care of him, and I would gladly bring a pet back here again. Prior to coming here I had heard they were expensive but I actually didn’t think it was too bad given everything that was done. Thanks so much for taking care of our boy!

They are all polite and carrying people but the bottom line is they are all in it for the money factory. Pull on your heart strings and manipulate your love of your pet. Our last dog had cancer and they convinced us to have surgery, mind you $8500. Our girl was put through that trauma and then passed away after all clear diagnosis by them three months later. Same ending for her w/o the surgery and trauma. Currently our last girl hurt herself and I couldn't stand to see her in pain, shaking and crying, so again I took her to the ER. Diagnosed her with a severe soft tissue injury. Pain pills and sedative and stated to return in 5-7 days if no significant improvement. So thinking its my fault for not asking but you all know how relieved you are after not hearing worse than could have been. No anti-inflammatory, no subtle bracing, just come back for further consult in time. Hence, money machine. Everything I've read and consulted a friend of ours who is a vet, soft tissue injuries need at least 14 days for healing and then take it easy with further exercise. They didn't even think that far ahead, just come back in a much to early recommendation. We know we all love our pets but this place is simply a money sucking bunch of specialists sucking and pulling on our pet owners emotions. If at all possible stick to your neighborhood vet. Unfortunately if it's an emergency they have you by your heart strings.

Up until tonight, I would have given Metropolitan 5 stars. Tonight's service would have given them a -11 so I feel that the 3 is fair. I have taken my pets there for ER services as well as specialist services for years. Usually I find them to be caring, professional and good. Tonight though, I had an emergency. One of my dogs ate my husband's heating aid. I called to tell them that I was coming in hopes of getting them ready to help us. The person who answered the phone kept wanting to give me the number for poison control. I said I was not going to need the number, I was bringing her right over --- they said that I would still need to call. When I asked why-- they said it was policy. I told them that was ridiculous. The hearing aid had a battery-- I knew it had to come out. Then I realized that if I had to have this conversation, I didn't want to take her there -- I called Hope who told me to bring her right over and they would induce vomiting. I hope this was a one off situation and I encountered a new employee. Not sure I want to find out though.
