Mezcali
"Mezcali is the brainchild of two best friends from Southern California who grew up skateboarding and satisfying their afternoon hunger pangs with Cali-Mex food. Some of our best memories were shared over a plate of carne asada fries and a couple shots of mezcal. We built Mezcali in homage to our experiences growing up in South Cali. While we can’t recreate Los Angeles in Downtown New York, we have done our best to bring you a slice of our love for everything Cali-Mex, but in the heart of Manhattan."

This is a brand new Mexican restaurant that I just had lunch at. The food was terrific!!! My brother and I shared a hangar steak and a burrito. Plus an appetizer of chips with three home made dips. Everything was delicious and I even enjoyed the burrito loaded with French fries. If you’re in the Wall Street area and looking for a nice sit down Mexican restaurant then check this place out.
Oustanding new restaurant with Southern California flair - We visited on a Sunday at 2pm when they were serving brunch only - but the staff was good enough to provide regular menu items even though it didn't start til 4pm. So we proceeded to be served some of the best Tacos we ever had! Amazing ambiance, food and staff! Keep it up!
Went there on a Wednesday night. We got seated right away and only got food, no drinks. The decor of the place is great! Staff is friendly but our food took a solid 30 minutes to arrive even when the restaurant was empty. The food was just okay. I didn’t realize it was Cali-Mex until after we finished eating so the whole time I was judging the good with my Mexican hat. We ordered 3 dishes: Pollo Mole tacos: My least favorite dish, the flavor was okay but I found the fried tortillas too greasy. Fresh Catch: Again nothing stood out, steamed fish. Steak bowl: My favorite, the steak was well seasoned and I like all the different ingredients, rice, salsa, corn and guacamole. If I were to go back I would get this. I would probably not eat here again but I would go back to try their drinks.
Nice ambiance and great seating by windows, bar tables or banquets. Friendly attentive service. Cocktails are one of the best!! Guacamole was ok. Quesadilla was nice. Nacho with mixed review. Will try the tacos and mains next time.
This place was amazing from the ambiance to the drinks and food. We sat downstairs which provides a lot more of an intimate atmosphere than upstairs, but both are equally nice. I ordered a margarita which was delicious. For food we ordered the elote and Cali burrito. The elote comes as sections of the corn shaved from the cob, not loose kernels. It seemed grilled and was absolutely delicious! Seasoned perfectly. The Cali burrito was amaze! It has onions, juicy tender well seasoned strips of steak, French Fries, caramelized onions and cheese. This burrito was heaven in a tortilla! The best part is it’s right up the street from the piers so you can walk it all off by the water and possibly catch some music by a DJ on Friday they have at the pier. We definitely will be back and recommend you all try it out.
Beautiful Mexican restaurant! Very gorgeous place, I really liked the ambiance. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Food was top notch, drinks were awesome too. Highly recommend
Walked in from a long walk on a Saturday afternoon round 4:30pm. 1 table and a few people the bar. I think the host felt we weren't good enough to be there. She sat us then a few other tables came after us 2 other tables. They got waters and service before we did. She served them then told us our waiter will be with us. Once he waited on us service was better. Did have some cold beers and tried the hanger tacos which is served on a blue tortilla. Didn't look to good but was really tasteful and full of flavor. Table top is extremely small for 2 people.
Nice space, a bit noisy but good for groups. Service was excellent. Would repeat but not at the top of the list Had a few items from HH menu, Caliburrito and fish Tacos. Dessert was probably the highlight of the meal. Waffle cone, ice cream Tacos. Toquitos were better than average with a nice piece of cheese inside Guacamole was pretty standard, chips were good Fish Tacos, were a bit over fried, ruining the panco breading, fish was good quality though Cali Burrito was good, the fries with cheese was a nice touch.
Very nice decor and really friendly staff. Food is really good, even if portions are a bit small. It can be loud due to the poor acoustics. Had the strangest drink. The Coquito. You have to chew the coating off the straw. The drink was good, but the coating on the straw is definitely not for everyone. Overall, a nice place, but a little higher priced than expected.
Definitely a must visit Mexican restaurant. Delicious food and great service. Ambiance and restaurant lights brings in the vibe and coziness. 2 levels, bottom level is very much apt for dates, upper level is more kinda noisy date come party vibe place. Wheel chair accessible entrance and it faces south. Clean restrooms. Nachos small plate is fresh and the mix of sauce, jalapeño, thyme leaves, salsa was amazing. Elote- Corn was yummy. Fish burrito is good! Fish was crispy but also was blackened, so a after taste was kicking in. Tacos are must try and delicious. Tres leches - still mouth watering. Water glass were different. Apart from it we have a complementary chef special tasting dish. Sweet potato something, it was a small bomb with flavors in the mouth. We loved it. The only problem we had was, credit card sub charges were already added to the bill. What if someone uses debit card, gift card, or cash? That could have been asked and avoided. I will return to this restaurant and recommend it.
