About

Miami Dade College’s North Campus, opened in 1960, offers unique academic programs in a variety of disciplines. http://www.mdc.edu/North

Story

Located on 245 acres in northern Miami-Dade County, this beautifully landscaped campus was the College's first. It was built in 1960 on land that once hosted a World War II Naval air station. The main academic buildings of the Campus surround a serene lake and lush walking paths.

MDC's North Campus is home to the Schools of Science, Criminal Justice and Entertainment and Design Technologies and the College's Fire Sciences and Funeral Service Education programs. The North Campus also offers several unique opportunities that include bachelor's degrees in Biological Sciences; Film, Television & Digital Production; and Public Safety Management.

North Campus also administers the Carrie P. Meek Entrepreneurial Education Center, which promotes excellence in education, entrepreneurship, and workforce preparation.

In January 2010, MDC celebrated the official opening of the College's state of-the-art science complex at North Campus. The first of its kind in north Miami-Dade County, the 90,000-square-foot complex features 21 laboratories with media stations, a Palmetum, a roof-top observatory, classrooms, lecture hall, faculty and administrative offices, botanical garden, greenhouse, an outdoor plaza and a café.

There is are a handful of high-minded professors at this campus who actually love teaching. Though, there is a great majority of professors who lack the capability, mind-set, and skills to teach. Be wary of those. The tuition is cheap compared to most schools so take advantage of it as you may transfer credits to a higher university of your choice. The overall complaint that I have is the personal handling student services such as admissions, registrations, financial aid, and advisement. Oh my, what a pain it is to have to deal with these poor services. I try to handle everything online or through email and absolutely detest having to seek help from the staff. Other than that, It's a good place to start your career goals

Not a bad college after all, and the teachers staff are exceptional, second to none. Now the why I rate this college with 1 Star, I which I could give them 1/4 star. The building 1 staff members need to get on their A-GAME. It took me 7 months (yes SEVEN MONTHS) to get registered for class. Had to miss waaaaay too many days of work to try to complete registration and they were always giving me the run around, " Oh go here; go there; this person is off today; this other person is not here now; this person is at lunch; call this number and ask for this other person; go to this other Kendall Campus; have you tried the Hialeah campus; Kendall is better-they will be able to help you; oh no, go to building 3 on the 2nd floor; oh no is not here in building 3, now is building 1, and on, and on, and on.. 7 months to get registered to school. Administration needs to do something about it. Some staff members need employment refreshment in how to do their jobs, instead of bouncing people around the whole college premises. Dr. Eduardo J. Padron (president of the college), please do something about your staff, specially about those in building 1, very very VERY lazy people, specially those who work on the windows attending the numbers from the kiosk, and the "supervisors" sitting behind those people that work on the windows. Thank God I'm done with the course I was taking, unfortunately I will NOT take anymore courses at your campus, I rather prefer to spend the extra dime at another college and pull the extra drive, than to attend to your faculty. Your teaching staff are above exceptional, specially those from building 7, 8 and 9. Your science dept. is marvelous. Too bad I cant say the same about those from Building 1.

Broward college is way better than MDC. MDC has the worst student care and administration system. People hang up on you or transfer your to numbers they know won't answer when they don't know how to fix a problem instead asking their boss. They will send you waiting in different departments and waste a year of your life just so you can take classes you don't need. This staff is money hungry, lazy, and really doesn't want to help a student succeed.

They say "expect unexpected" in one of the promo videos…so i called about a class in advance and asked if its the north miami campus and the girl said yes, so i asked if they had interior design class on their campus, she said "yes we do", when i came to register they send me to several different offices, and no one knew where it was, so eventually i went to the building where they gave me the number of classroom, interior design doesnt exist here neither the brains of people representing this institution. One of the "receptionists" was like 13 yo, i think, she was acting like a child, this is a joke, i had to drive so far to get here to get some info. BTW on the website all 3 campuses show interior design program. They hire only not very bright people.
