Tampa's independent used and new book & record store and coffee & tea bar. Free Wi-Fi.

Story

We buy, sell and trade books, vinyl records, cds and dvds. Having expanded, Mojo is now Tampa's largest used bookstore and we have the largest selection of vinyl, too. But 'largest' isn't the strongest argument or even our ultimate goal. What matters is that we're seriously focused on our selection, constantly working to bring you the best picks at reasonable prices.

And don't forget to check out the Mojo Coffee & Tea bar, featuring locally roasted Buddy Brew and Kahwa coffee and organic Rishi loose leaf teas. Ever tried a pour-over, Chemex, French press, or Japanese slow brewed Yama iced coffee? You really, really should. Or get a latte, cappuccino, mocha, etc., made with Buddy Brew Double Dog espresso.

Mojo is a gem in the middle of suitcase city. It is always fun to peruse their aisles for various media treasures. You're never sure what you'll find, but there's always a good selection of books, records, and other media at decent prices.

Great selection of books and records. Comfortable atmosphere. The staff doesn't go out of their way to help you, but, if you ask they are knowledgeable. Coffee was great

They usually have every album I'm looking for. Always very organized and great selections. This is the first place I go to when looking for records. The staff is polite enough, nothing outstanding. It's not usually busy, clean and they sell food too.

My favorite book and record store in Tampa. They've got a good cafe sort of atmosphere in the front, with shelves upon shelves of books, DVDs, records, and more everywhere else. Everyone is very nice, helpful, and are happy to see you there. Huge selection, best of Tampa imo, and something for everyone. Highly recommended!

Mojo's is a gem in terms of it's record and book selection, with hip offerings ranging from The Beatles on vinyl to Murakami on paper. However, their café is severely lacking in barista competency. Whoever set up the bar in Mojo's is quite knowledgeable considering they have everything: a three-group Simonelli, a excellent espresso grinder, an ek-43, two yama cold brew towers, and everything you'd need for an amazing slow bar (Overkill, yes. But I love it!). They also offer coffees from our local heavyweight roastery, King State, as well as Counter Culture! I've been here multiple times and each time it's the same experience. This time in particular, I ordered a Cortado from the nice girl behind the bar. After I ordered, a few people came in with some books and records, so she began helping them. I understand that she has to help her coworker, so I took my time, but after she returned to the coffee bar (10 minutes, no joke) I realized she had forgotten about my Cortado (I'm the only coffee customer at this time, BTW) so I politely reminded her about it. If I had a sound file of how she was steaming this milk I would attach it along with the pictures and it would be apparent what I'm talking about. It was at this time that I realized she used the shots that she pulled prior to helping everyone (10 minutes ago) because she didn't regrind or engage the espresso machine! That's unacceptable, the milk was unacceptable, and the poorly extracted espresso was too. I don't say this to deter anyone from coming to Mojo's because it's great, I just think the owner of the coffee bar should be made aware that time and time again this particular barista demonstrates a lack of understanding and craftsmanship in regards to coffee. A well trained barista in this environment would be in heaven, but I've watched this baristas development over the last few months and there's been none. The head foam on this Cortado, the terribly steamed milk, and the light coloration of the espresso in the pictures all serve as indications of my experience and I'm sure that the owner of the bar could benefit from this information.
