I was taking my wife on an anniversary trip for our 1st date 40 years ago and I saw the reviews of this southern cooking testaurant and decided to give it a try. The menu was appealing and the food was excellent. They were serving all you can eat catfish, with the trimmings, on this Friday evening and we decide to get them and they were excellent. The place was nearly full of patrons and the wait wasn't bad comsidering the shortage of employees that everyone is experiencing. The highlight of the dining experience was the desserts, they have an extensive list and they are unbelievable! The pineapple casserole was as good as any dessert that I have ever eaten, but the desserts topped it! Amazing and filling!
I absolutely love eating here. Truly some of the best southern food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The women that work there are the friendliest around. The fish plate is honestly the best thing you can get. For me and my fiancé we typically spend just under $20 for the 2 of us to eat. I will always go back so long as they stay open.
I love finding places like this on my travels, it was hinted to me that I would like this place and they were rigth I loved it, everything about this restaurant was great from the staff fast and friendly and the food showing up at my table fast and delicious, I started with the appetizer sampler with onion rings, fried mushrooms and a lovely little thing called corn nuggets which were amazing as for the main course I went with the larger choice of the rib eyes and let me tell you not only did that steak made my day the baked potato and the best coleslaw that I have tasted in my life all hit the spot and to finish all up I ordered something that I have never had before the buttermilk pie and it was simple but good very highly recommend you stop on by and try this little gem in Alabama will most definitely eat here again if in the area and you should give them a try.
Looking for a place close to our hotel as we were both very tired. Great reviews and the lady at check-in recommended. Wow! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The only picture I got was dessert, because we were so hungry we dug in without thinking about photos. The prices were crazy cheap compared to what we are used to. All you can eat catfish with 2 sides for $10.99, pie for $3, appetizers for $4! We got extra pie to take with us. Homemade in house and sooo good! I had fried okra and slaw with my fish. The okra was the genuine article, not that nasty frozen breaded stuff you usually get, and the slaw was creamy, crisp, and flavorful. We talked about going back for lunch tomorrow it was so good, but unfortunately for us, they are closed on Saturdays. Our server Challice was so sweet and did a fantastic job! I seriously could not have had a better experience! Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just go to Mama Jean’s!
This place was delicious. We were coming back from Memphis to Huntsville and happened to find it right at the 72 alternate turn off. The prices were incredible and the food was delicious. Definitely worth going to for some country home cooking.
We had the 2 piece catfish ,Philly steak ,and cheese with onion rings, pinto beans , bread , and the banana pudding. The food was all good ,very tasty service was okay .they sent out a fresh order of onion rings without us asking for them. Must not have been up to their standards, but both were good. We will go back again.
What a pleasant surprise. Arrived at our hotel after an eight and a half hour drive. Checked the internet for local restaurants. After seeing the reviews. Said what the hell. Give it a try. Anyway it was well worth it the food was very good and the price was very reasonable. The staff couldn't have been any more friendly. Outstanding food and service.
Got the meat and 3 We both had chicken and dumplings. The veggies were good but the dumplings and chicken were were few and far between. What little we had lacked flavor and the liquid was watered down. I make my dumplings from scratch so I can taste whats going on. I do not recommend the chicken and dumplings.Nope Nope Nope. As an after thought.... I drove to their restaurant and placed my order. I was asked when paying if I wanted to leave a tip? I am not eating in I am getting my order to go. Really? Had they delivered my food I would tip no problem. I dont get it
Reminded me of a mom and pop cracker barrel with a more hometown feel. Loved it.Food: 5/5
We found this place 3 years ago, prior to the virus, and really enjoyed it. We visited again on this trip to the area, and were somewhat disappointed. They like most, are short staffed, but service was relatively quick and friendly. The food was not quite as good as before, and prices were somewhat higher, again to be expected. Overall, still good, just not quite as good as pre plandemic.
