Story

Welcome to Momma Rabbit's!

Let us introduce ourselves. We are eight siblings: Will, Sarah Grace, Spencer, James, Webb, John, George, and Richard Allen. We grew up as an agrarian homeschooling family learning to grow crops organically, along with raising sheep, goats, and free-range chickens with the help of our guard llama, Uncle Bob. We always wanted to expand our family business together, where we could combine our love of whole foods, with a desire to serve with family-friendly Southern hospitality.

By combining our resources and hard work, along with a modest inheritance from our grandmother (nicknamed Momma Rabbit), we explored various opportunities, while gaining experience in the restaurant business, along with Will and Sarah Grace honing their skills by graduating from culinary school. As a solid first step toward our ultimate vision, we bought Everyday Gourmet in December, 2014.

Since then, we have expanded our menu offerings, sourcing more of our ingredients locally and directly. Building on this success, we are pleased to have you as our guest at Momma Rabbit's Nibbles and Sips! Whether it's coming in for unique and appetizing lunchtime fare, allowing us to cater your next event, picking up a prepared Home Supper, having a relaxed evening to enjoy our light nibbles, dinner specials, and distinctive desserts and beverages, or joining us for weekend brunch, we hope you thoroughly enjoy your time with our family and come back to see us often!

Good food, sour ending: I have been to this restaurant numerous times and find that their menu has many delicious items. I especially like the brunch. However, I took a friend to lunch there today and was dismayed when we were served a dessert called "Apple Walnut Torte" that was bitter. It was a new item on the dessert menu and the waitress had not tasted it but read the list of ingredients to us which included apples and walnuts. Since it was on the dessert menu we believed that it would be pleasant to taste especially considering how good their food usually is. With consideration to the steep $8.00 price tag, we decided to split the dessert. After about two bites, neither one of us could continue to eat the desert because it was very tart. We asked if we could possibly try another dessert. The waitresse asked the manager to speak with us. The manager lectured us in a very condescending manner telling us that our society likes sweet desserts and this recipe was from the 1700s when they did not have much sugar available to cook with. In her opinion, we should have known that a recipe from the 1700s would not be very sweet. Not only did she fail to offer a good customer service to us, she embarrassed me and my friend. I am not certain my friend will ever return to this restaurant and I am having second thoughts as well. I would not recommend this particular dessert especially at the price that was charged. I have never had a customer service problem in the past with anyone or any situation at this restaurant so I am not sure how they handle other disappointed customers. I would have preferred an offer to reduce the price of the desert or to offer a different dessert that we would find more enjoyable.

Oh my gosh, the affair to remember cake is AMAZING! Along with everything else! The Owls watermelon beer is delicious and I love the cranberry and spinach salad. We eat there all the time. Beware they are AMAZING so it tends to be busy. Very family friendly atmosphere. The mom always comes and talk to our 18 month old when we come after church because he is tired. We love it!

At Momma Rabbit's you get really good food in a quaint, family-oriented environment. Attention is placed on detail here from the plating of your food to the customer care. They have the best whole wheat waffles for Saturday and Sunday brunch along with other favorites such as Eggs Benedict and Baked Oatmeal. The mimosas are delicious! The sandwiches and salads are very tasty. The atmosphere is cheerful and the owners are truly committed to excellence in all ways. It is a small restaurant and it's possible that you may have to wait, but it is well worth it. You have to try a homemade seasonal dessert or cake. Not only are they beautiful and you get a healthy portion (there might be enough to take some home), they are very thoughtfully designed by the pastry chef who has a passion for beautiful and delicious desserts. This restaurant is the kind of place you go to relax, enjoy yourself and be treated like the valued customer that you are to them. I have thoroughly enjoyed several visits.

My husband and I stopped by on a whim and I am SO glad we did. Just like it's name, this is a unique and quaint little place. The staff and owners were very accommodating, friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The food was fresh and tasty. The establishment was sparkling clean. The prices very affordable. I highly recommend.

Had a business meet here over lunch. They were busy with room at the larger community tables. Great atmosphere and the food was scrumptious. The hardest part was deciding what to choose from the menu. Went with the Mandarin Sriracha Tacos and so glad I did. Portion sizes left me satisfied but not stuffed. Is it rude to lick the plate in public?
