Proud to be locally owned & operated.
Since March 2000, Montana Ale Works' hip, fun and friendly staff has been dedicated to serving scrumptious food, frothy pints and killer cocktails in a cool, big ol' railroad warehouse in downtown Bozeman. Originally a warehouse owned by the railroad, we thought this cool and funky old building had so much character it should live on as our dream - a bar, restaurant, and local hang out for the whole community.
Montana Ale Works employees are the soul of our company. Our success depends upon their collective energy, savvy and passion. We are chock full of talented performers, who share their enthusiasm with our customers nightly.
Whether it's food and drink or customer service, we're constantly innovating, experimenting, evaluating and evolving. Our passion is to create Bozeman's best place to hangout, get full and have fun. We look forward to serving you.

Great restaurant! This place has a descent sized crowd on any given night of the week. Their food is good quality. Only issue I had was with the price. The portions can be pretty small on some of their items and you overpay for them. If I was the owner I would probably do the same to maximize profit, so I can't complain too much. They have built such a great customer base that it makes sense. 

I'd recommend the Gallatin Valley salad with extra trout. You basically get a whole fish for about $20. I have not tried the chicken yet. Best value based on serving size I could find at this place.

Food is always good and there's always a wait on Friday and Saturday. Sadly they won't and wouldn't accommodate our large family when we were in town for our wedding or I would have gone to give stars. The girl was carefree and couldn't be bothered nor cared. We get you will fill the seats regardless, however many of us travelers several thousand miles only to be treated rudely by a hostess. My wife and I came back a few days later and was seated after about 5 minutes of waiting at a table listed as "reserved". The steak was Ok, it was cooked perfectly however lacked any real seasoning. The white Alabama BBQ sauce wasn't good. I've been to quite a few Alabama BBQ places and never seen it heard of a white sauce. Anyway, review would be at least four stars if the staff had a little tact. Customer service is a cornerstone of an establishment...when you serve customers. Lacking it will destroy your business quicker than you can think. That's why we have reviews.

When we went here we had to wait about 30 or so minutes but it was certainly worth it, the service was amazing and the food great. Our server was so knowledgeable in the beer that served and was able to give amazing and accurate recommendations while being timely and nice. The food was fantastic and great even the fish and chips which I ordered was great and really brought to life those fish. Was certainly worth the wait and every penny we paid.

WHY IS THIS PLACE NEVER OPEN?!?!?!?!? I LOVE the food, I just can NEVER GO!! It’s super annoying! I basically have forgotten it exists because every time I check, during normal restaurant hours, it’s never open! I have even researched its hours, put that in my memory, looked again online to confirm, showed up and they are closed!!! Why are you even here Aleworks if you don’t want to be open?!?  I gave two stars because the food is DELICIOUS, the two times I’ve been able to get in!

Great food, great service, but a hell of a wait. Waiter was knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. However, they need more than 1 server handling the waiting area. Offering drinks while you wait is a nice touch but having to chase down a overworked server to order is never fun.
