Visiting the area we were driving along Highway 1 and stopped off at a beach where a nice local woman suggested this place.  It is is small and unassuming, you might pass it driving by.  Excellent fresh seafood with local ingredients.  Mostly Italian dishes.  The couple next to us were visiting for a second time...they drove down from Berkeley!  Prices were not bad considering the area.  Oysters were outstanding.  The oak fire grilled octopus was very nice.  Nice wine list with several local vintages.

*Sigh* I don't think I've tasted better seafood in all of Monterey! The Fish House serves CONSISTENTLY delicious food for a FABULOUS price! It truly is the culinary pride and joy of this beautiful city! Not only is the seafood fresh, it is always cooked to perfection. This is our family favourite, and even my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew from Minneapolis look forward to eating here every time they visit. No birthday in my household is ever complete without dinner at Monterey's Fish House.

We drove through Monterey on our way from Canada to LA and came across this place. It is very small and easy to pass by while driving - but I am so glad we found it. We didn't have reservations so we sat at the bar and had incredible service from the bartender and our food was fresh and delicious. This is one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been to and will definitely eat here again if we're ever in the area!

I would be hesitant to go back here. If you are looking for a delicious dinner with pleasant staff, search elsewhere. The food is mediocre compared to their pricing and the hostess/staff are unfortunately rude. I attempted to discuss the customer service concern with the manager, Joe Maker, and he continued to exacerbate the minuscule situation. I will be sharing with friends and colleagues the negative reviews because no one should choose to spend their money here. This is not a great environment for a relaxing dinner in Monterey Bay, so many other wonderful choices!

Outstanding sea food.
Excellent friendly service.
Awesome atmosphere.

Had the squid steak which was very nice.
Eating here again!
