$28 per adult, but free for military. The price was scary, but well worth it, and clearly goes to a great cause of preserving national history and raising awareness. You'll need 3 hours or so. You'll get a time on your ticket for the main house tour, but you should do the garden and slavery tours on the hour while you wait, and walk through the underneath sections if you have more time. Beautiful and enlightening. Great for middle school and older kids.

Outstanding in every respect. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and told the story of Thomas Jefferson in such a way that you feel that they actually knew him personally. The house and grounds are beautifully kept. So good to have this memorial to one of America's greatest patriots. Be sure to take the time to go on all 3 guided tours

Very beautiful and lots of history to be uncovered here! My family and I made a 3 hr trip from Baltimore to visit Monticello, and we have no regrets! We had tickets for a specific time but ended up being a bit late. However, the reps were very nice and helpful and simply moved us to the next shuttle. After the quick shuttle ride up to Monticello, a tour guide takes you inside Jefferson's house and explains the art, furniture, and whatever else you can are curious about. It was interesting to learn about Jefferson's way of life and his interests/hobbies, and dislikes/likes. At the end of the tour, the tour guide leaves the group and you are free to roam the property on our own and either walk back down to the parking lot/gift shop or take the shuttle down. There is lots to see around the property, so plan to spend at least two hours. On a side note, it's also a very beautiful drive coming from Maryland!

Such an important place in the history of our country. I had visited many years ago and made another trip recently. Amazing beauty and I thought all of the tours (house, garden and slave) were so well done. And especially loved the freedom to walk the grounds and explore on my own. The collections, film and other information at the entrance are well worth spending time in as well. Ate lunch. Many healthy choices and reasonable pricing. Everyone slthat has any kind of opportunity to visit this along with the University of VA should make it a priority to do so.

Amazing historical sight. My kids were 7 and 5 when we went and they loved it. We did the children's guided tour and it was perfect! Make sure you bring home a sensitive plant.
