Story

Awesome. Very detailed, and an excellent presentation of the history of the city. Audio visual displays were well crafted. The tunnel was everything you hoped it would be, only wishing it went further! What a beautiful way to explore the history of the city and its role in Canada's history

What a great little museum. Totally blends in with the history it's presenting as it's literally built on the foundations. The Customs House display is really creatively done with lit highlights showing the relevant part as the presentation proceeds. Walking through the old sewer was cool too (not often you get to say that). Fun pirate section for kids. Thought it was a little expensive at $20 each going in, but it was worth it. Multimedia presentation is fun but non-essential as you just get the same information as in the rest of the museum really.

Reception was nice and professional. Great experience with kids to learn about the history of Montreal. Amazing preservation of early Montreal and a self-guided tour. Good for a cold, snowy or rainy day or even if you have and an hour and a half to kill.

This place is so cool! It blew me away being able to walk through excavated areas of Montreal from the 1500’s-1700’s. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this place is a must see!

If you visit only one museum in Montreal, visit this one. Plan on spending a good part of your day there. You can leave and get a bite to eat outside at one of the many eateries along the water front and come back in (the museum is in old port Montreal ) or eat in their cafe. Mind you, this review is from someone who enjoys archeology and museums.
