Each County in NJ is required by law to have a County Clerk as an elected constitutional officer. In general, the Morris County Clerk's office records and maintains land records, such as maps, mortgages, deeds and other related legal documents.
This office processes passport applications, issues I.D. cards to Morris County residents, and maintains Military Discharges (DD214) for veterans. All businesses and doctors are required by law to be recorded by the Clerk's office.Notary Public applications are processed in this office.
The Clerk's office administers several important election functions, including the preparation and mailing of election ballots, nomination petitions, and election night voting results. The office prepares the Morris County Manual and the Clerk may perform marriage ceremonies.
Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Registry recording is open until 4:00 pm. The Passports Department is open late on Tuesdays until 8:00 pm.
