Wonderful slice of history! They have an incredible textile collection from early America. Absolutely worth the visit! I would suggest calling ahead, as Amy and her team are actively working to improve the building for the future, and may have changes to the day's tour hours. Amy's energy is infectious and it was a pleasure spending time with her.

An authentic and outstanding Victorian home showcasing original furniture and decorations representative of early upper-middle class suburban life in Morris County. Lovingly cared for by the Morris County Historical Society, Acorn Hall is a treat for history buffs and those who love Victorian beauty. We were given an excellent tour by Nicole, the Curator of Exhibitions and Research. The breadth and depth of her knowledge and presentation was truly delightful. The grounds and gardens are also beautiful.

Don't waste your time trying to go here. The house and parking lot was totally vacant of visitors. Went there today 11/12/17 and was told it was too late for a tour. She said a tour takes at least 45 minutes and the latest tour would have started at 3:15pm since they close at 4pm today. I showed her my phone that reflected it was only 3:09 and her response was we could come in but she would have to do a really rushed tour. The whole attitude was negitative like we're invading her house. Definitely see why we were the only visitors attempting to visit. The outside of the house reflected a great deal of attention was paid to detail during construction however after many years of harsh weather the house is in desperate need of painting and repairs in order to save it for the future.

A remarkably good docent tour is available here. The manse is not a strong contender for best mansion in NJ, but the collection of housewares, furnishings, and furniture rivals anything you might find at Ballantine House in Newark. The pro tip here is take the tour, leave your car in the lot, and walk the Patriot's Path. You get to the Arboretum in about forty minutes of lazy strolling.
