Thank you, Mount Calvary, for excellent and compassionate service. Karen Michelson and Jim Janusz helped me find several of my loved ones resting in peace. Jim helped with a particularly challenging marker and site from 1981. He went with me to the site and found the marker. They helped me refresh and raise the marker. They were both quite sensitive, not only because I was visiting from out of town and could not readily return for follow up, but also because due to military service, we were overseas and could not regularly visit the 1981 site. Karen and Jim respect how important and emotional it is for folks visiting their resting loved ones. They were very kind, patient, and compassionate. Thank you again, tremendously.
I often visit my mother and sister place Most had long grass and weeds. Forget about trimming around headstones! We paid a lot. There is another problem is that Muslim section of graveyard like garbage where lots of litters like plastic water bottles, cans and cross the street none Muslim section is pretty clean no grass and no garbage in around at all. I'm getting prepared to file complain in NY state this disrespectful, neglect and all vandalism
The urns at this cemetery, regardless of use, belong to the family of the deceased buried in the plot and not the cemetery. What gives Mt. Calvary Cemetery or anyone else the right to remove them and don’t give the old rat-a-tat non- use or care. Take a look around this poorly kept cemetery for a bird’s eye view of non upkeep by My. Calvary. Better to spend the time, money and energy on grass care, righting tipped monuments due to failure to upkeep the grounds around them, etc. Also, many plots were sold at an extra cost of perpetual care by the cemetery. Just try to get a headstone raised under the perpetual care umbrella. You’ll surely be told to fork over $$$$ to defray the cost and then be told that perpetual care covers only the cost of road and grass maintenance. Catholic cemeteries are a joke. They are guilty of violating at least one of the Ten Commandments, “Thou shall not covet thy neighbors goods.” In other words, not steal from the family of the dead.
They lost a headstone 20 years ago ended up in a pile somewhere??? Cost her $600 between mt Calvary and Ami gone got nowhere. Out of her inheritance $600 down the drain
I stopped to place a flag on my beloved father’s grave, near mausoleum. We drove through many sections. Most had long grass and weeds. Forget about trimming around headstones! I have never seen it this bad.
My grandparents service was in ridge lawn part of mount calvary cemetery, sec F on 3/19/22 we had a really nice tent set up, That my family ordered and extra chairs and green carpet all well done, and the "ground staff man" That place my grandparents remains was so professional and respectful and polite, I had to ask for his name...Thank you again Mark! For My grandparents wonderful service.
I stopped to see my Uncle and mother in law on Memorial Day 2020.....the grounds were very un kept, high grass! My dad and many family members are at Saint Stans..... grass there was cut, at the cemetery on Union and Genesee I have to say the grounds were pristine though smaller I know ...... I go frequently to take care of my family s resting spots but on Memorial Day just terrible to see the grass let go.....as with covid there are changes and I realize that.....but grass cutting is not a group activity......very disappointed with Mt Calvary......
Have been paying respect to loved ones for over 55 years at Mount Calvary. Seen many changes especially once the “33” was built. Why did the beautiful concrete archway at Pine Ridge which used to be the main entrance have to be demolished? People use the cemetery as a quick short cut to Harlem using the ugly overpass that’s left. Get rid of that and just use Harlem Road as entrance and exit.
Don't know if this is the place were my both brother are buried at.Pedro Juna Vazquez 02/19/1987 he was 18 years old and Ricardo Juna Vazquez he was only 4 years old I don't remember the month or day he dead just year 1976
Mt. Calvary and their staff were very helpful in my genealogy search. Providing maps of each location of my ancestor's graves. They also promptly repaired one of the gravestones I was looking for as well.
