I have known this restaurant for over 40 years, and I was delighted to see that it's still in operation, albeit at a new and larger location. One dish I particularly love is their abalone porridge with . After a long flight this morning, I craved hot soup, so I ordered the dried pollack soup . It was exactly what I needed to rejuvenate my body and replenish my energy. The service was excellent as well. The attentive waitress frequently visited our table to offer more side dishes, which made the dining experience even better. I believe if they advertise more, they could attract more non-Koreans too. To achieve that, they might consider preparing menus in English and investing in social media promotions. However, the only downside is the parking lot situation. They currently only offer valet service, which costs $4.00, and there's no option for self-parking. This could be a minor inconvenience for some customers. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I hope the restaurant continues to flourish in its new location. Parking: The valet service ids $4.00
I got a #4 cow & ox foot in soup with rice, it was super delicious! Ox foot was tender and instantly melted in the mouth. It paired perfectly with wasabi and soy sauce with a hint of chili for dipping. Broth is naturally flavorful without additional seasoning, and the side dishes had that homemade traditional taste. Staffs were incredibly kind and friendly, even offering us a refill. Very hospitable!
Super kind staff, food was delicious. Felt very homey and comfortable in there. I got the soybean stew and it was exactly what I wanted. All the banchan are also yummy.Food: 5/5
The ox broth soup was quite bland. If one doesn’t speak Korean, it was difficult to be served. Asking for water proved to be problematic though we finally did get water but no extra cups so we emptied our hot tea into a separate cup then reused the empty cup. Service was quite slow. Only three of us but each of our orders came about 10 and 5 minutes apart from the first person’s order. Service was poor and food bland. Not recommended. Parking was acceptable with off-street valet parking available.
The soup is nice and clear but not as filled as one would expect if the soup has been slow cooked for hours. I ordered the ginseng chicken but I couldn't taste any ginseng. The set is simple with a bowl of rice and some kimchi sides. Best if you can speak Korean, but ordering shouldn't be a problem regardless.
I'm a long time customer to this place. I got their abalone porridge whenever I felt sick because this food is easy on stomach. They have the best abalone porridge in town. Today I found a rusty screw inside the side dish. It didn't look like it was dropped by accident or something. The screw was marinated, the radish that was surrounding the screw had this bizarre blackish color. If I ate it without knowing it I would have busted my teeth and get sick from the contaminated radish. Extremely disappointed to see this. Now I'm not sure about the cleanness of their food. The owner needs to acknowledge that this is a serious problem. They can get sued for this.
Comfy food. We came here the day Hurricane Hilary was en route to Los Angeles. First tropical storm to hit LA in 80+ years. Under heavy rain, and a random earthquake too, comfy soup was all we needed. Mountain was the place to be.Recommended dishesBoiled Ox Foot DishParking spaceDifficult to find parking
Great kimchijjiggae. Lovely Korean lady served me. Felt like at home!Food: 5/5
Ordered the whole chicken soup and abalone chowder. The chicken soup is awesome. Feeling warm from inside your body after eating. The abalone chowder is not bad although tastes a lil bit too plain comparing to the chicken soup. This place is popular at late night and was full soon after we sat down
Really great to come here when you just want something hearty and comforting. The soups are not overly salty, but can add salt to taste. The side dishes the Kimchies are super delicious and work perfectly with the softer soups. My favorite of the ones we ordered was the chicken ginseng soup!
