After being a customer of Mountain Fuels for many years, I came to the painful (and expensive) conclusion that I could not trust them to maintain my home heating system. Because my house has a long run of hot water for heating passing through unheated spaces, it contains antifreeze. Although I had inquired about the need to add antifreeze, I was told I didn’t need to have any more added. After my pipes froze and burst this winter, I was informed by Mt Fuels that they recommend adding antifreeze every two years. In spite of having a service contract for many years, they never mentioned this to me. Of course I needed to have the burst pipes replaced so Mt Fuels performed that repair. However, two months later, the pipes started to leak. Not wanting to trust these people again, I hired a contractor I trusted who showed me that the leak was due to a faulty connector and unsupported plastic pipe that sagged putting strain on the connectors. In addition, they left portions of the pipe exposed to the cold air without replacing the insulation that had been previously in place. Overall, it was a very shoddy looking job. When I approached Mt Fuels about taking some of the responsibility and partial reimbursement for these failures, they refused. They claimed no responsibility in spite of the service contract. I was out $1200 because of their failure to properly maintain my heating system and poor repair work. Beware of what you are getting with this company...they may not be looking out for your best interests.
