Attention NEW program! Joining with other Police Agencies, the Mount Holly Township Police Department wants to partner with Residents and Business Owners to help solve crimes and keep our community safe! We are asking Residents and Business Owners with business or personal surveillance cameras to register your cameras with the Police Department. Before reading further, please know that this will be strictly confidential; we are not asking for any passwords, remote, or internet access to your surveillance systems through this program.
How does it Work?
The Mount Holly Township Police Department is committed to our partnership with residents and business owners. Many residents and business owners currently operate surveillance systems at their homes and/or businesses. As crimes occur nearby, they are not always aware that their system may have captured information that could help solve the crime, thus keeping our community safer. In turn, the police are also not always aware who may have this potentially vital information.
The Mount Holly Township Police Department is asking the residents and businesses around the town to register their privately owned surveillance camera systems. As the Police Department responds to criminal incidents in our community, they can identify nearby registered surveillance cameras and may be able to use the information or footage gathered from your security cameras to assist in the apprehension and prosecution of the criminals involved.
What are the benefits of registering your camera?
The voluntary security system registration program will help the police department to quickly identify nearby cameras that may have captured criminal activity. After registering your cameras, you would only be contacted by the Mount Holly Twp. Police if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your security camera. If so, Police personnel may request to view your camera footage in order to assist in the investigation. Help make Mount Holly Township an undesirable place for criminals to commit crime and keep your entire community safe! Again, there will be no remote access of your system with this program and an officer will contact you to arrange for viewing only with your permission.
Our hopes are that everyone in town with a camera system, resident or business, registers and assists the Police Department with this program. Resident surveillance cameras have already solved several incidents in our township and we hope that expanding our ability will enable us to solve even more crimes!
