I love this place!! We camped right on the beach!! The wind is a little much, but great for flying kites!! We tied a couple of kites to the car and watched them as we played in the water!! The water is warm and amazing!! The beach is clean, and there are cold water showers next to the out houses to spray off after a swim.  We saw a lot of crabs at night! I got a cool video of one eating seaweed.  There are hot showers next to the check in office.

The grounds are nice and people did not appear to leave their trash everywhere like at the nearby public beaches. There are sturdy rustic covered picnic tables away from the water that made it easier to prepare and eat lunch. We did not use them but there are several portable bathrooms near the parking lot. Two PVC type pole rinse off showers, at the path to the beach, made it easy to get the sand off the kid before loading up the car. Probably a good idea to have flip flops when standing on the wet ground area rinsing off. We felt the $5 per adult fee was more than reasonable. Just educate the kids not to pick up or play with the jellyfish. ...any of them.

Mustang Island has some of the nicest beaches. The sand is pale and heats quickly in the middle of summer. It is clean with no real broken seashells to hurt your feet.

This is one of my favorite places along the Texas coast to swim, camp, and beach comb. The staff are friendly and responsive. Our camp neighbor had grass allergies and within two hours the park peeps mowed it all up for her. It was very nice of them. The sand is nice and packed along the beach, hot showers available and cold rinse showers. So many birds and fish to explore and with how long the beach front is, I doubt someone could get bored. Overall, this place is badass for singles, couples, and families. I recommend it to everyone I can.

Been visiting this beach since I was a kid. It's still a nice place to visit, however there is better if you have the time to travel further.
