It’s a high-end Turkish restaurant located in a nice spot. Is the restaurant nice? Yes. Is the food delicious? Yes. However, we spent over $300, including multiple appetizers, and everyone left the restaurant hungry. The portions are so small that you enjoy the food but do not fill yourself. That’s why I’m giving it four stars.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday and there were plenty of open spots to grab even without a reservation. I liked the vibe and the food at this spot. If you like Mediterranean and/or middle eastern food, I recommend checking this restaurant out! They had lots of salad options as well as modern Turkish dishes.Food: 5/5
This Turkish restaurant has been a long-missing gem in New York. It’s not your typical Turkish spot—it’s much more. The chefs have given a modern twist to some classics, and everything on the menu is amazing. I particularly like the meatball appetizer and Nar Kebab. The profiteroles dessert is also quite successful.
Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, between the bustling avenues of Park and Broadway on 20th Street, lies a culinary gem. Recently, I had the pleasure of dining here with my colleagues after work, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. I was eager to try NAR, so wanted to invite and share the experience with my colleagues. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by an ambiance that perfectly blends traditional Turkish elements with a contemporary flair. The decor, inspired by the works of the great poet Rumi, adds an elegant and artistic touch to the dining experience. The menu at NAR is a delightful fusion of traditional Turkish dishes presented in a modern and sophisticated manner. Each dish is a testament to the culinary expertise and creativity of the chefs. The service was impeccable; attentive and friendly, the staff made us feel welcomed and ensured our dining experience was top-notch. Among the many delectable options, a few dishes stood out. The Manti, delicate Turkish dumplings filled with seasoned meat, were an absolute delight. The Stuffed Wine Leaves were perfectly balanced and refreshing. Sultan's Bliss, a rich and creamy eggplant dish, was a true indulgence. And the Nar Kebap, a perfectly grilled and seasoned kebab, was simply sublime. NAR Modern Turkish Cuisine offers a dining experience that is both unique and memorable. The combination of traditional flavors, modern presentation, and exceptional service makes it a must-visit for anyone in Manhattan. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Upon entering Nar, we were welcomed kindly by the entire staff. Each dish was carefully crafted with attention and detail. Nar is truly one of the best modern Turkish restaurants in NYC. Some of our favorite cold appetizers ordered were Shakshuka and Sundried Eggplant and Pepper Dolma. As for hot appetizers, Grilled Iriskit and Hellim Cheese & Nar Icli Kofte were stand-out dishes. For the mains, our server advised on the Nar Kebab, which was a great kebab choice and extremely flavorful, made with minced beef and lamb, combined with pistachio. To end the meal, we ordered a few desserts. The Turkish Delight Lava Cake was outstanding; highly recommend for all diners. Look forward to going back!
Incredible on all fronts. I’m fascinated by the food and the service. This might be the best Turkish restaurant outside Turkey. We got 6 appetizers and 1 main for two people, so we could try as many dishes as possible. Everything was incredible. The Cigkofte and Nar Kebab were out of this world. The manti is the best Manti I had outside Turkey. For dessert, Kazandibi and Profiteroles choux pastry were extraordinary. On top of it, the service was perfect. I cannot wait to go back, probably very very soon!
It was an amazing experience. They presented Turkish dishes with a unique perspective, and everything was incredibly delicious. I especially loved their 'Almost Cacik', it was so good and very refreshing. The baklava was a must try for everyone. I also tried their espresso martini, and not ordering a second round feels nearly impossible, that's how good they are! Highly recommend this place, I’ll be back for sure.
So me and Moni tried Turkish cuisine for the first time! Well at least for me And so glad that we tried NAR Firstly, we were greeted by the hostess and we chose high tops beforehand while reserving. However, high tops were a little too crampy for us so the hostess seated us in the dining area. The ambience was satisfying and soothing. Their server was so nice to us too. We ordered the stuffed wine leaves, shakshuka and manti as starters. The leaves were tasteful, a tad tangy but goood! Shakshuka was good too. Manti had us craving more, these beef dumplings were cute, little sized and their bites felt delicious. For main course, we had the NAR Kebab and the meat was yummy, could’ve been a bit more juicy but not to be complained. Sultan’s Bliss was a delight. The lamb was succulent. As side, the Ottoman Rice was the highlight of our dinner. Such scrumptious rice mixed with raisins and nuts. They went delightfully in pair with the Bliss. Our server recommended Baklava as dessert and it was a perfect ending for our palate. Loved the place so much, time spent well Recommend all of these items
Overall excellent food, ok service. Beautiful restaurant but the space is very tight. Came here the first time with my friend for a get-together after a full relaxation at The Bathhouse nearby. I love Turkish food. And friend is Turkish : so I suggested Nar to test it out. It didn't disappoint! The lamb kebab was juicy and tender, not rubbery and dry like your $15 delivery from run of the mill Middle Eastern food place. And the presentation is elegant and bursting of colors. My favorite was the squid ink couscous and grilled baby squid. Reminding me of the concept of oyamodon aka Japanese chicken and egg rice bowl. The fragrance was intoxicating. The couscous had a distinct, subtle sweet nutty taste. The baby squid was tender and flavorful. The suggestion to management is to remove some tables because the space is very cramped. You can see guests were sitting somewhat uncomfortablely close to each other. Also the staff seemed new and unseasoned. I will be back and try more on the menu next time!
As soon as we entered into the restaurant we were welcomed warmly. We sat at bar since we had to come earlier than our reservation. Ahmet was amazing at bar. He recommended exactly what we were looking for and everything we ordered was above and beyond our expectations We decided to call this approach the refined Turkish cuisine!! We will definitely come back and try other dishes we can’t possibly eat at once The owners are extremely sweet and friendly When they heard that it was our 25th anniversary and my birthday and we were coming from Louisiana, they offered us champagne to celebrate with us How lucky we are to have an amazing new Turkish restaurant we can recommend to all of our friends: We ate everything so fast couldn’t take the pictures
